O/T: Verizon Fios TV...MSG HD?

I Just got Verizon Fios Tv, and noticed thet snyhd/versus hd etc is there, but no MSG HD OR MSG2 HD etc...

Was wondering if that's suppose to be the case, and if a deal is close....Anyone know antyhing else about this, and who else has fios TV?

Thanks in advance.

will probably never happen, FIOS just added a bunch of new HD channels, inluding VS. HD, but still no MSGHD. comes down to $ between Verizon and Cablevision that they'll probably never settle on

i know a girl that works for one of cabelvisions channels and word is they are giving the cold shoulder to Verizon, so the outlook is bleak.

I've had the hard sell on many different occasions for FIOS, we have a box right outside our house.I'd rather give my money to someone other than Dolan but unless I go to DIRECT tv MSGHD is not going to be an option unless Dolan agrees to let FIOS have it for a reasonable price.

i love verizon SO much more than cablevision, except for the lack of msghd, that is the only negative for verizon i feel.

The lack of MSG HD on FIOS is the main (perhaps only) thing that is stopping me from switching out of Cablevision. So Dolan is smart to play hardball.

But for me, watching the Rangers is HD is a high enough priority to pay a bit more and perhaps recieve lower Internet bandwidth and fewer other channels. So be it, it's business and I have the choice to make.

I just got Fios also, love it.

And why no MSGHD? They got every other channel HD, even the YESnetwork.

The HD channels and the quality is on another level for fios, just brilliant.:handclap:

Take it for what its worth to ya but my dad works for the aviation department of verizon and asked one of the verizon executives about this and he told him that they would eventually have it.

Radek27 08-06-2008 05:36 PM

Well when I ordered it they said they were trying to get NHL center ice but no info about the NHL Network which I would kill to get

hpNYR 08-06-2008 08:39 PM

this enhanced extreme hd that they use helps make the regular definition channels looks pretty clear too...... so waiting for msg hd won't kill me.

I would say it's the ONLY thing keeping me with Time Warner Cable. I don't see one reason to stay with TWC if FIOS gets MSG-HD. I'd switch in a minute. But from what I hear it's not likely to happen in the near future. I hope I heard wrong.

I've heard the same from a girl I'm messing around with who's father works for Verizon.

It will come sooner or later, but Dolan will play hardball until it happens.

Of that I have no doubt...but how long it will take is the 64k question.

Random question, but has FiOS allowed MSG to be obtained in the sports package like Directv? I used to do that since I don't live in or near the NYC area, and have since stopped using Directv because really... it sucks. (or at least here it does)

Fletch 08-07-2008 07:48 PM

Cablevision sucks - the only thing they can do is stonewall the competition by not allowing their content to be broadcast over their network. I love their incentives - sign up for two years and get 10% off. Yay. Not having MSGHD would suck royally, but dealing with CVC's crappy boxes on a daily basis is worse. Been a customer since May - took them three shots to install (and I had all the wires run myself for them) and have replaced several boxes because their software is junk. Having been a Time Warner customers for 20 years, and being across the street from Time Warner service, really pains me now.

I have comcast in NW New Jersey and I have MSGHD and MSG+HD as Full time channels (ch. 196 and 197). Got them in late May,for some reason we have the bandwith up here. So happy, because I could not stand them flipping the switch for channel 201 for MSGHD when the Rangers where on because sometimes they would not do it.

Never...

Burlington Bomb 26 08-08-2008 08:55 PM

DirecTv has MSGHD and all the other junk, and NHLNetwork and NFLNetwork for free:nod:

BrianNYR 08-09-2008 10:34 AM

my dad keeps cablevision for the sole purpose of being able to watch the rangers. i love it lol

wolfgaze 08-10-2008 06:34 PM

I'm happy with cablevision's service.... Quite happy....

They just added 12 new HD channels too.. It was about time...

I don't see how anyone could knowingly switch to a cable provider that doesn't carry MSG... Can you even get NHL Center Ice through FIOS? If the answer is no, that's unacceptable.

RangersFan 08-10-2008 06:57 PM

dolan would be a fool to give up MSGHD. the moment they do I am switching to FIOS in a heartbeat. i'm sure i'm not the only one...

Went from Cablevision to Verizon and got a $200 gift card. Verizon annoyed me, no customer service, the bill was higher than I thought, and naturally no MSG HD.

Also, I was late on 1 payment and I got a shut off notice immediately. That, to me, was just unnecessary.

And the biggest thing was that the standard MSG on Verizon was NOT as good as Cablevision's MSG HD.

All I want on HD is the Rangers and other sports and some movie channels. Who needs A&E on HD?

Then I got a call from Cablevision - they offered me the same channels I had with Verizon for $70 less a month, gave me free boost for the internet for free for 1 year, gave me a free upgrade to a DVR box for 1 year, free install, $200 to pay off my Verizon contract and a $300 PC Richards gift card. And I would have switched back for nothing!

There's also a channel called Monsters in HD on Cablevision (and not Verizon) that I really like.
