Redden Vs McCabe

Who is the better playing as of right now. This is to settle a argument between me and my friend.

Kush 08-10-2008 07:14 PM

No poll? Anyway, right now, McCabe.

Kamina 08-10-2008 07:20 PM

Redden, despite how far he's fallen.

Turambar 08-10-2008 07:24 PM

Redden.

DG 08-10-2008 07:47 PM

Redden, but I don't think it's by as much as this poll will show.

He is still reasonably good offensively... it's just that his defensive game has regressed so badly.

Burlington Bomb 26 08-10-2008 10:51 PM

Redden. He may have gotten worse but still much better than McCabe IMO.

The Big Swede 08-10-2008 11:28 PM

McCabe

Redden is awful

FLYLine24 08-10-2008 11:44 PM

Redden,

McCabe is awful, hence the reason why the leafs what to get rid of him so bad.

xeric716x 08-11-2008 12:07 AM

McCabe

mytor4* 08-11-2008 12:41 AM

Redden always has and always will be better than McCabe

In fairness, McCabe is only awful with that contract. He's still a good hockey player.

The same can be said for Redden who obviously isn't awful, but isn't nearly a 6.5M defenseman at this point in time.

dubey 08-11-2008 12:58 AM

I would rather have Aki Berg back at $6.5 million than Wade Redden

Ha...!

Super Sniper Cele 08-11-2008 01:01 AM

They're both severely overpaid, but I'd take Redden.

massivegoonery 08-11-2008 01:12 AM

McCabe, Redden is awful.

SuddentheSwede 08-11-2008 06:18 AM

McCabe is not overpaid.

This past season (contrary to popular belief) McCabe was a rock defensively, most probably his best season ever defensively. His offense has dropped notably, especially his once so feared shot, but he is still a good d-men offensively.

A few eye-gouging mistakes to start the season clouded what was actually a great season from McCabe. Take a look at the Leafs record with, and without him, you will realize that McCabe is one of the more valuable players for the TML's. In my opinion, he's right behind Mats.

His 5.75 million cap hit is fair value in comparison to what he brings to his team. Especially considering how much the cap has grown recently.

He was on pace for 35 points. There's no way he is/was good enough defensively to make him worth 5.75M if he only puts up 35 points.

Maybe 4.5-5... but not almost 6.

Well said.

When he came back from injury they played much better. The winning percentage without Mccabe is worse than without Sundin.

Mccabe is far better than Redden, IMO. Toronto doesn't want to get rid of him because he's bad, they want to get rid of him because they're rebuilding and to shed almost 6 mill off future salary.

Jimmi Jenkins 08-11-2008 08:27 AM

Redden, despite taking a few steps back, he understands that their are two ends of the rink.

McCabe is certainly overpaid, it's tough to argue, or pretend, he's not.

danishh 08-11-2008 09:37 AM

Redden. they are both horrid defensively, but i'll take the playmaker over the triggerman any day.

Watsatheo 08-11-2008 10:19 AM

Redden.

It is true McCabe was very good for the 27 games he played after returning from his injury. The games before the injury, however, he was pretty bad. Had he played at least 2/3 of the season as well as he had those 27 games, I'd pick him. 27 games is not enough to convince me.

It Kills Me 08-11-2008 10:24 AM

McCabe without much thought.

Redden loses your team games, the Sens will be better without Redden and Emery.. The Leafs **** the bed without McCabe.

Cogliano13Gagner89 08-11-2008 11:17 AM

Redden by far and he's even fallen a lot the last couple of years so it just shows you how bad McCabe really is.

Habs 4 Life 08-11-2008 01:05 PM

Redden

zeke 08-11-2008 01:43 PM

McCabe was always better than Redden.....and that became perfectly clear as soon as Redden lost having Chara soak up all the #1 defenseman minutes.
