Blue Light Special: NYR Summer Merch Sale @ MSG

Just got this email, thought I'd pass it along to all of you who may not be on whatever mailing list I'm on....If I recall correctly those of you who went last year had pretty much a mixed review of it, some good stuff, some a pointless trip.

Leave it to the girl around here to spread the word on a shopping trip. Typical.

Time to snatch up those Christian Backman jerseys you've all been saving up for.

danno2530 08-18-2008 03:12 PM

I went to this last year. There were alot of people, the lines were long and moved slowly and you practically had to attack people to get some of the best stuff.

With that said, I managed to pick up a couple of pretty nice shirts (including a Shanahan long-sleeve t-shirt), so I'll probably attend it again.

Be advised: Most items that have a player's name on it will consist of: Jagr, Tyutin, Straka, Shanahan, Hollweg and Avery.

ogie 08-18-2008 04:18 PM

88% off on all Malik jerseys.

Smashley 08-18-2008 04:41 PM

If someone wants to get me one of those Jagr 600 Goals fleeces in a small I'll send you $, extra to ship, and make it work your while. Monetarily. :D

Serious.

Edit: What the hell is this nonsense...If I ever saw a lady wearing this I don't think I could take her seriously.

I know you were trying to be nice and post the email. But that kinda defeats the purpose of having an email.

How so? He couldn't forward it to all of us. I am sure the Garden would appreciate the exposure, this is a surplus sale of former rangers memorabilia. Plus some posters here actually appreciate the heads up.

Now how does this defeat the purpose? If anything it is a win-win for the Garden and us Rangers fans...

Who's he? Do you mean she? Anyway, this isn't a private sale. It's open to the public.

Were there any jerseys there last year for sale? I'm curious as to what jerseys will be available this year, if any, and for how much? And what aboot equipment ?

MSG the place to be* 08-19-2008 12:51 AM

It says UP TO 90% off but does this mean like 1 item will be 90 off but most are really like 10 off?

Most likely. I've never been to one of these, but I guess I'll see if I can go.

Exactly my thoughts, bet it will be like keychains and stickers 90% off. :shakehead

Yeah there usually is some alright stuff there if you can avoid the swarm of people. Just make sure you go the first or second day if you wanted something specific, by the third day usually all is left is weird sizes.

I wish they would sell equipment though, I know the Devils do and I believe the Islanders do as well. I could use some new sticks.

Forechecker 08-19-2008 10:15 AM

I've been to that sale in the past and picked up some stuff. I think that's where I got my Nemchinov jersey, actually.

Bluenote13 08-19-2008 11:55 AM

Someone pick me up a large Nemchinov jersey... Smash will make it worth your while, monetarily:naughty:

Nah, I appreciate the heads up. Thanks Smash!

And that half-zip hoodie is sexy. I'm going to buy one for my girl!

Garfinkel1 08-19-2008 01:22 PM

yeah. Thanks for the heads up.

Also, How much are jerseys in Medium? or maybe small? Could anyone who went last year tell me what this is all about. How much off do you get on jerseys, shirts. Are there a lot? Are there only players who have left or is it any players?

Edit:Crap, I have work wed-fri. THE ONLY DAYS I WORK.. Still would like to know. Maybe I can pay pal someone or something. I live on Long island so shipping wont be much.

No I understand that fine. But the point I'm making, is that the e-mail was intended for those who get the e-mail. See, of course the Garden could just put up an ad on the Rangers web site and everyone would see it, but I guess how i see it is that the Garden intended it for only those who receive such e-mails. Whatever, I don't really care.

Well considering not even 5% of the garden crowd visits this forum I don't think you need to be overly concerned with getting your merch picked over by fellow HF'ers.

Besides, I'd hope my eFriends on here would do the same for me. :)

mti79 08-19-2008 02:20 PM

I went last year on the first day and at the beginning, there were no Ranger jerseys out. Eventually they brought out Liberty Cullen's and at $50, they were too much for me. I got a bunch of t-shirts for $5 and $10 a piece, a hat for maybe $10 and a couple of pucks for $1 each... not sure what they'll have this year since we have a lot of players who won't be on the team that I've seen jerseys for in the Garden (Jagr, Hossa, Hollweg, Avery...)
