Rangers D and call ups from Hartford

So as of now the top 6 are set and yes they can be paired in many different ways.......most will disagree with me here but this is how i see it to start

Redden , Girardi
Staal, Rozsival
Kalinen, Mara
Pock

Pretty sure Pock is the logical 7th Dman since he is 26 , has NHL experience and the 7th Dman will be sitting around most of the time anyways

So what is there in Hartford.....i would guess this off the top of my head...........In order of callups

Potter
Sanguinetti
Sauer
Fahey
Deminsev..........

What else is there on the back end?

Jaromir Jagr 08-24-2008 11:28 AM

Couldn't answer your question about who else is there, although I'm pretty sure Michael Sauer is injured and will not be a possible callup until probably 3/4th's of the season is over.

That's pretty much it at the moment. You're just missing David Urquhart, who's signed to an AHL deal. Expect another defenseman or two to be added between now and the start of the season...

Corey Potter
Tomas Pock
Vladimir Denisov
Bobby Sanguinetti
Brian Fahey
Mike Sauer (when he's healthy)
David Urquhart

Mike Busto.

Inferno 08-24-2008 01:35 PM

Next person on that list is Inferno...though I play checking forward... I can adapt though!

What else is new with this guy? I am all for trading him away for a pick. I would rather get a 3rd for him than Prucha. Or trade him for another younger dman. Slats should call up Maloney and offer him up for Yandle........I liked what I saw out of him in the few Yotes games I saw.

Liffiton, Jake Taylor, and Busto?

No way we get Yandle for Sauer for one thing. Another thing, the Rangers don't need another offensive defenseman prospect.

Liffiton and Taylor are no longer Rangers property.

Hmmmm I thought Taylor was on an AHL deal with the Pack. Guess not.

Taylor was on an AHL deal last year. New season, new deal, different team.

Actually, he played in the AHL last year for Colorado's farm team.

Squishy,

Do you see Potter or Sanguinetti or some other defenceman being the first one called up incase of an Injury or Trade?

Just wondering as depth is important and I like to see what's up in Hartford......

do we all agree that Pock is the logical 7th D man?...........Potter could be there as well but I don't see the point of him sitting around

If everyone started off in the same place they ended last season (an unlikely if) I think it would be Potter, Pock, then Sanguinetti. But Denisov and Fahey are unknows -- one or both could easily jump ahead of those three. Or a slow start could knock one of the first three lower down the list.

Whether Pock wins the 7th spot will largely be up to him. If he's undergone an attitude adjustment, and isn't going to complain publicly about not playing every night, he has a decent shot at winning the 7th spot. But right now the lack of depth in the system on defense suggests to me (baring no futher moves or signings -- which seams unlikely) that the Rangers won't carry a 7th to start the season.

I still think at least one more defenseman will be brought into the mix, so until we see who that is, it's hard to predict where people will end up.

I don't recall Pock publicly about not playing except when he was talking about the posibility of him resigning. He was saying he would like to resign if he gets to play. I don't see whats wrong with that.

He voiced displeasure on his web site about being a healthy scratch in the first 5 games of the season last year, then played a crap game in the 6th, which is what earned him his exile in Hartford. He followed that up by being excited about the opportunity of being placed on waivers, thinking someone would actually pick him up.

The Rangers couldn't be so lucky... :p:

Hmmm this is all news to me, I didn't even know he had a web site. I don't know I like Pock and always thought he was never given a real chance to stick.

Meh Pock got screwed, he deserves a NHL spot and he is 26 so he should be happy with the 7th spot and then trying to get more time later in the year

Denisev and Fahey are older but I see them in Hartford with Sanguinetti, Potter, Sauer, Busto and I think Kundratek will make it

He deserves no such thing. There's a reason they call him the "Austrian Assassin" in Hartford, and it's not because of the damage he does to opposing teams.

If he was so deserving of a spot in the NHL he would have been picked up off waivers last fall. He's a borderline NHL defenseman at best, and most likely will be a career AHLer.

You're probably thinking of Mike Taylor. He was with the Pack for a few games last year on an ATO and he signed a AHL contract with the Pack this year.

pzilla3 08-28-2008 11:01 PM

If Pock deserved a spot he would have earned it by now.
