Your Team in 5 Years

This is a fun thread, you can go as outrageous as you want or you can be conservative with free agents. Just like the topic says. Your team roster in 5 years

Michalek-Thornton-Setoguchi
Couture-Pavelski-Cheechoo
Mcginn-Mitchell-Clowe
Mclaren-Zalewski-Tousignant

Vlasic-Boyle
Erhoff-Petrecki
Joslin-Braun

Griess
Sexsmith

Not a overly physical team, but pretty hard working and this Sharks team should be good in the long run.

massivegoonery 09-04-2008 01:41 AM

Don't lie, you put yourself on the fourth line.

Zim 09-04-2008 04:45 AM

Beach - Toews - Kane
Ladd - Kontiola - Byfuglien
Sweatt - Bolland - Makarov
Dowell - Davis - Greenop
Burish

Seabrook - Keith
Barker - Campbell
Hendry - Hjalmarsson
Lalonde

Crawford
Unice

I chose not to include any free agents. Chicago have a lot of prospects at forward so i just basically chose the ones i thought have the best potential to make the NHL. However i'm sure that different Hawks fans will have different opinions on which prospects will be on the team.

MarinerIslanderSean 09-04-2008 05:52 AM

Just going with prospect depth, someone who's wife is from Long Island coming back during the homestretch of his career, and one optimistic addition at first-line center if we have a bad season in 08-09.

Petrov-Tavares-Okposo
Bergenheim-Bailey-Comeau
Tambellini-Trivino-Hunter
Joensuu-Toews-Gregoire
Nielsen

Ness-Kessel
McCabe-Campoli
Hamonic-Martinek
Niemi

DiPietro
Ridderwall

BobbyClarkeFan16 09-04-2008 06:07 AM

I'll give a shot at the Flyers:

Van Riemsdyk - Richards - Lupul
Maroon - Carter - Giroux
Hartnell - Matsumoto - Downie
Kalinski - Rinaldo - Kempe
Cote

Parent - Coburn
Sbisa - Bodrov
Marshall - Bourdon
Lehtivouri

Eriksson
Deserres

SixthSens 09-04-2008 06:22 AM

I'll take a stab at Ottawa:

Heatley - Spezza - Alfredsson
Foligno - Fisher - O'Brien/Daugavins/Regin
Z.Smith - Kelly - Condra
Weller - Bass - Winchester

Phillips - Volchenkov
Karlsson - Lee
Picard - Wierioch/Schubert

Elliott
UFA

hfboardsuser 09-04-2008 07:04 AM

Dustin Penner-Sam Gagner-Jordan Eberle
Robert Nilsson-Shawn Horcoff*-Andrew Cogliano
Gilbert Brule-Ryan O'Marra-Riley Nash

Lubimor Visnovksy*-Tom Gilbert*
Taylor Chorney-Jeff Petry

*- Have 5+ year deals

Only issue is money- with this being 5 years in the future, the cheap contracts of Gagner, Cogliano, Eberle, Brule, O'Marra, Nash, Chorney and Petry will be over. I ultimately think we'll need to decide between one of Cogs or Gagner.

worstfaceoffmanever 09-04-2008 07:08 AM

Dumont*-Arnott*-Hörnqvist
Erat-Legwand-Jones
Spaling-Wilson-Pihlström
Tootoo-Geoffrion-Thuresson
Peverley, McKenzie (he may or may not be our enforcer)

Weber-Suter
Blum-Hamhuis
Josi-Laakso
Dietrich

Pickard
Dekanich

*Arnott and Dumont are the faces of the franchise and love it here in Nashville, so I suspect they sign new contracts to make themselves Predators for the remainder of their careers unless they're just desperate to win a Cup.

It's a pretty conservative projection, but the Predators have drafted well enough that they can build almost exclusively from within now, with an occasional free agent injection. I think that's the route they take.

This, of course, does not account for any players that will be drafted between now and 2013, so this is definitely subject to change.

bassassin 09-04-2008 07:40 AM

Malone-Lecavalier-St.Louis
Cunti-Stamkos-Tyrell
Craig-Fadden-Keller
Tarnasky-Jones-Artyukhin

Ranger-Wishart
Meszaros-Mihalik
Lundin-Smaby
Quick

Ramo
Helenius

brs03 09-04-2008 07:53 AM

Washington (not going to bother with free agents for now):

Ovechkin - Backstrom - Bouchard
Semin - Gustafsson - Fehr
Osala - Laich - Kugryshev
Della-Rovere - Beagle - Gordon (Andrew)

Alzner - Green
Lepisto - Carlson
Schultz - Godfrey

Varlamov
Neuvirth

Obviously there would be FA's sprinkled in, but that's a potential lineup including only guys drafted (or developed, in Laich's case) by the Caps and in the system now.

Do you seriously expect Alfredsson to be playing in 5 years?

RocheBag 09-04-2008 08:09 AM

Boston Bruins

Marco Sturm - Patrice Bergeron - Phil Kessel
Milan Lucic - David Krejci - Carl Soderberg
Joe Colborne - Vladimir Sobotka - Brad Marchand
Petterri Nokelainen - Zach Hamill* - Martins Karsums

Zdeno Chara** - Dennis Wideman
Matt Lashoff - Mark Stuart
Andrew Bodnarchuk - Tommy Cross

Tuukka Rask
Kevin Regan

* I don't see Zach Hamill ever being a 4th liner, but he can't play Wing so I just couldn't find anywhere to fit him in.

** Fingers crossed.

Ryan McDonagh - Ryan O'Byrne
David Fischer - Josh Gorges

Carey Price

Was thinking the same thing. He's already top 6 in St. Louis.

Cactus Jack 09-04-2008 12:54 PM

The Calgary Flames using what they have now:

Backlund-Langkow-Iginla
Boyd-Lombardi-Ryder
Bourque-Nemisz-Chucko
Nystrom-VanderGulik-Moss

Regehr-Phaneuf
Giordano-Sarich
Negrin-Pelech
Pardy-Baldwin
Dielert-Aulie

Irving
Keetley

Someone needs to teach Sutter and his scouts how to draft scoring wingers.

Schenn-Steen-Kulemin
Stefanovich-Stajan-Tlusty

Earl-Moore-J.Mitchell

Schenn-Colaiacovo (I have a feeling this is going to be a very good shutdown line)
Kaberle-Stralman
Kronwall-Harrison

Eller - oshie - Backes
McCrae - Porter - Lemtyugov
Livingston - Lehetra - Palushaj

Johnson - Cole
Pietrangelo - junland
Wagner - Fairchild
ex: K. Berglund

I think the forwards are fine, if you organize 'em right. Here's my take:

Tanguay-Plekanec-Kostitsyn
Pacioretti-Maxwell-Kostitsyn
Higgins-Chipchura-Latendresse
Kristo-White-D'Agostini
Lapierre, Conboy

Markov-Komisarek
McDonagh-O'Byrne
Carle-Valentenko
Subban, Fischer, Weber

Price
Halak

With FAs counted, hopefully there would be an addition at center. The D is a bit tough to predict, with Gorges, Valentenko, Fischer, Weber, Carle, O'byrne and Subban all battling for spots. Oh, and possibly Emelin too, cripes.

Outstanding goaltending, great and deep D, excellent depth and quality on the wings. Good checking centers, but lacking in scoring centers. Hopefully a UFA or the 1st rounder in 09 could fix that up.
