Returning after Injury
im really nervous because im going on the ice for the first time since i factured my knee cap in 3 places
any advice to give me/????
Take it slow.
Don't push yourself too fast. Stretch properly. You may think that after a couple weeks you're good as new, but thats just your mind telling you are, not your body.
Follow your Dr's orders. He knows what he's talking about. I had arthroscopic shoulder surgery to repair my labrum. I got back to the rink as soon as possible even though my doc said to take it easy with just light skating. He said it would take 6-12 months to fully recover. Well what do you know, I dislocated my shoulder again cause I was pushing it too hard.
So I took it easy and really babied my shoulder. I stretch it every time before playing and give it really light workouts. Here I am 12 months later, and just like the Doctor said in the beginning, its just now starting to feel normal again. I thought it felt normal after 1 month, but it was just my imagination.
So unless you're playing for the cup, just take it easy and go slow.
