We have to do something about Brandon Dubinsky

There is no way he should be out of the top 6.

Just no way. We have to do something to get him up there, even if it means demoting Drury to the 3rd line.

EDIT:

This isnt a knee jerk reaction, he was too good for a bottom 6 role last year, and it showed.

Theon 09-20-2008 09:00 PM

We can use Dubi on the 2nd line and move Dru to the wing.

I'm actually kinda thinking...

Drury Gomez Dawes
Naslund Dubinsky Zherdev
Fritsche Korpikoski Callahan
Sjostrom Betts Voros/Orr
Voros/Orr

Trade Prucha.

Drury is too good for a bottom 6 role as well, and despite what he might say in the press, might not be thrilled about playing wing either.

A very good pre-season game by Dubinsky isn't an indication that he's going to be an 80-point player that demands he rise above Drury on the depth chart.

Never trade Prucha.

Dubinsky is ridiculous. I actually came here just to say, 'damn!'

It's not that he scored. Darren Langdon also scored 2 goals a game a few times. The thing is that Dubi scored 2 Goalscorer's Goals!

He can hit, defend, score. Confident like a leader. He's not Mark Messier, but he's the closest thing we're going to have to The Captain.

The kid is proof that work ethic can take you from being a solid third liner when you are 28 to being a good first liner when you are 24.

I can really see in 2 years him being a point per game player who's just as good on defense as he is on offense.

Holy smokes! I just had to double check his age even though it was very clear in my mind that he was drafted just 4 years ago, making him 22. That kid does not look like a 22 year old. He has the body of a 22 year old and the brain of a 32 year old captain.

I would agree with you that 1 preseason game does not a season make. But this isnt 1 preseason game bro. He was one of our 3 best forwards from the midpoint of the season on. And in the playoffs he was our 2nd best forward JUST behind Jagr.

Done.

I dont like Fritsche at center, and Korpedo played there quite a bit last year.

I predict future captain...I have been since the end of last year.

The Expert 09-20-2008 09:13 PM

He has an absolutely wicked shot. He uses it enough this season, could cause hell for goalies.

I think his point was Dubinsky comes as close to Messier's style of game as anyone we've had since he left.

I ****ing love Brandon Dubinsky. Awesome wrist shots tonight.

oh then i agree.

Unk 09-20-2008 09:21 PM

Well we wouldn't have this problem if we traded him. :sarcasm:

Forechecker 09-20-2008 09:25 PM

Well that didn't take long for the first mancrush thread to pop up!

Hey, he's only a 3rd line center, everyine here said so last season! :sarcasm:

I think Zher should room with Dubi on the road.

NYReign 09-20-2008 09:35 PM

General question: If Drury does ever switch to the wing, how come everyone always puts him on the off-wing? Can he not play on the right? (I ask this because I like Inferno's lines but I've never seen Dawes play on the right and I was thinking Drury would be a better fit there but every person I've ever seen make a lineup with Drury at wing has him on the left.

hmm, good point. i think i remember him playing on the left side with colorado, he also played there last year on the PP, and with Gomez and Jagr for a few games.

thats because when he played with Foppa, he had Hejduk(RW'er) on the other side, and in NY when he played PP Jagr was a RW'er, but when he was on PP with Shanny and Gomer, he was on the Right side. I'd rather see a combo of Naslund-Gomez-Drury.

I'm kind've stuck over whether I'd want Prucha to get a final shot in the top-6 or for Dubinsky to take his place. The thing I really like about Dubinsky over Prucha is I think he'd do a better job making offense for Drury and Dawes (if that were the line) then Prucha would at be at using what offense Drury and Dawes could create (which I'm in doubt about). Plus a Dawes-Dubinsky-Drury line could have a cool name like the 3-D line!

In my opinion it should be:

Nazzy-Gomez-Dru :True playmaker between 2 25+ goal scorers
Prucha-Dubi-Zherdev :Sniper, Powerforward, with a talent like Zherdev(which is more playmaking than goalscoring
Dawes-Fritsche-Callahan
Voros-Betts-Sjostrom
Orr

Staal-Rozsival
Girardi-Redden
Kalinin-Mara
Potter

Cherepanisimov 09-20-2008 10:01 PM

Naslund-Gomez-Drury
Dawes-Dubinsky-Zherdev
Fritsche-Anisimov-Callahan
OrrVos-Betts-Rissmiller

We now have our best 6 players in the top-six. I know it's only been one game, but I loved the Prucha-Drury-Dawes line, as well as the Dubinsky-Callahan-Byers line. They all played great together(although Byers shouldn't be playing there, Fritsche should), so I'm very concerned about splitting them up(I would support a Zherdev-Prucha flip though). So to stack the top-six, those lines would be perfect, but for a more balanced attack, I think that the most ideal line-up would be:

Naslund-Gomez-Prucha
Dawes-Drury-Zherdev
Fritsche-Dubinsky-Callahan
OrrVos-Betts-Rissmiller

Dubinsky should reallistically be our second line center, but if Anisimov isn't ready and we rush him, our 3rd line could possibly falter. I'd rather have 3 very, very good, balanced scoring lines than 2 high-scoring lines and a (potentially)crap 3rd line. But this is really a problem that I can definitely deal with.

lucky13 09-20-2008 10:10 PM

agreed. Dubi to a 5 year 3-4(depending on how he does) mil per contract seems reasonable to me
