Haha thanks for the link!

One of my favorite lines was on Oliwa, ""Spelling of name" is harder than his game"

I find it funny (as in if I don't laugh, I'll cry) that the last time I felt this way about this team was when John Ferguson was the GM and Jean Guy Talbot was coaching. Then I see the only GM for the Rangers with a winning percentage less than Sather is Ferguson. Go figure. And, funny how the Rangers wore the Vintage jersey from this time period for a few games this year.

Sather screwed over our Oilers, and now he's screwing over you guys as well. How many young players did he develop when the Oilers were getting high draft picks in the early 90s? Almost none. How many young players has he developed with the Ramgers high draft picks? Almost none. This guys makes Mike Milbury look like a fantastic GM. Sather is by far the worst GM in hockey, yet he still manages to be as arrogant as possible. I hope he gets whats coming to him.

Well, not first overall, but good enough to get some quality players.

During the height of Ron Blow hysteria, I never would have imagined that Slats would have a WORSE coaching record than him! (As well as Trottier & Muckler.)

That "keeping us competitive" hype was BS. The only reason why people gave him props for that was because of his reputation. The team post-Sather had much better seasons (excluding this year). He made good trades, I'll give him that. However, no championship team was built primarily through trades. Drafting is what leads to success, and cheap success at that (vital for a small market), as youngsters make alot less. When the Oilers were putrid for a few years, and we had tonnes of great draft picks, the only player we drafted of any consequence was Ryan Smyth. He should have been able to draft a whole NUCLEUS of quality young talent with those picks. Instead, he brought us the likes of Steve Kelly and Jason Bonsignore. The Steve Kelly pick was especially atrocious. That draft was in Edmonton, and the fans were chanting Doan's name. Even the FANS knew he was the obvious choice. Granted, Sather did aquire quality players like Guerin and Hamrlik. But so what? There was no way we could afford players that age for more than a few years. Small markets can be successful (see Ottawa), but ONLY if they have good drafting.
