I like it for the Nucks.

I think O' Brien is one of the more sleeped on defenders in the league. Big, Tough, can skate, sticks up for teammates. I personally think hes better of the two defencemen.

brutal, can anyone on our back end skate now?

pitseleh 10-06-2008 01:13 PM

Holy ****. I love Shane O'Brien. He's a wicked addition to the defense.

Sort of sucks losing Krajicek though. I wonder if another deal is coming?

Jay Cee 10-06-2008 01:14 PM

O'Brien was a great pick up but I'm really scratching my head about the Ouellet. He seems to me like a Taylor Pyatt but softer...

SedinFan* 10-06-2008 01:14 PM

Solid deal, especially considering that Oullet is going to the Moose. Gives the team some more organizational scoring depth. O'Brien gives the Canucks a very physical dman, and now it opens up dealing one of Ohlund or Bieksa for a forward, without losing their physicality.

Very solid move.

Jonathan Iilahti* 10-06-2008 01:14 PM

I would've preferred to keep Krajicek.

Jay Cee 10-06-2008 01:14 PM

Ouellet was waived already?

Zorbane 10-06-2008 01:14 PM

Michel Ouellet? Can't say I'm a fan of him...got Dustin Boyd and Ryan Callahan with him in EHM though :sarcasm:

Shane O'Brien though, I approve of this.

As it says in the press release, Oullet is going to report to Manitoba.

SopelFan* 10-06-2008 01:15 PM

**** the Canucks defense is getting violent. Sucks losing Krajicek but I like O'Brien. Simek sucks anyways.

probably because he has negative trade value. Still, he will be fantastic in the AHL.

fogducker 10-06-2008 01:15 PM

good deal simek wouldn't ever had cracked teh roster

LeftCoast 10-06-2008 01:15 PM

Apparently, Krajicek lost out to Davison for the 7th defense position, so where does O'Brian fit in?

Oulette will add some toughness to the Moose roster. He needs to be much more disciplined to make an Alain Vigneault coached NHL team, but in the future could push Pyatt or Pettinger for a role. He has already cleared waivers this year, so he can be directly assigned to the Moose. He is subject to recall waivers however, so he is likely there for the season.

If we had claimed Oulette off of waivers, we would have to insert him into our NHL roster. As he has already cleared waivers, he can be assigned to the Moose.

Setting the stage for a trade involving Kevin Bieksa?

If so we may have one of the least mobile D's in the league, talented as they are..

I'd say more-so Ohlund even though he has a NTC, I'm sure there'll be many 'contending' teams interested in his services and willing to give up a scoring forward for him.

SopelFan* 10-06-2008 01:18 PM

The Moose will win the Calder Cup if they can get Nycholat and Krog to them too.

doobie604 10-06-2008 01:18 PM

bad trade for vancouver, hopefully now bieksa gets traded

Michel Ouellet would add about as much toughness as Maxime Ouellet would.

he is not a tough player, from what I remember he is a project scorer. He showed some upside in pittsburgh then TB got him before last year to play on richards line, they just never clicked.
