Manny Malhotra

What would it take to acquire Manny Malhotra?

cydawg 10-14-2008 11:56 AM

A 3rd Rounder or a mid grade prospect.

Manny has pretty decent value in the playoffs for his ability to win faceoffs and he's a decent penalty killer as well.

Watsatheo 10-14-2008 12:20 PM

I'd love him on the Habs as a fourth liner.

Plato 10-14-2008 01:13 PM

4th round pick should do it.

SML 10-14-2008 04:57 PM

What's his cap hit?

Jovavic 10-14-2008 07:23 PM

I believe it's 1.5 million. Brillant resign by MacLean on that one.

WJG 10-14-2008 08:36 PM

Okay, second question:

Do CBJ fans think that Malhotra will be moved at the deadline, or is it more likely that he'll be resigned?

He'd be a great pick up for a lot of teams.

With two other prospects for Pavel Bure:sarcasm:

DousedInOil 10-14-2008 11:33 PM

Seems like the oilers could use his service. Any interest in something like:

Marc Pouliot/Ryan Omarra
Bryan Young/4th rounder

Hell we will throw mikhnov in for free ;)

mrinsane 10-15-2008 12:02 AM

Mathieu Dandenault, Ryan White

It's a tough call. If we're out of it then (which looks possible given the way we've played so far :shakehead) then he'll more than likely be moved.

Eazy T 10-15-2008 09:54 AM

best defensive forward 4th liner in the league, bar none.

They might give up on Pouliot this year, but they wont give up on O'Marra. Why? He's now 220 pounds. In excellent shape and it looks like he's turning into a really really nasty checking line forward. Incredibly physical and all the weight he needs to get that part of the job done. And I'm not talking about fighting penalties, either.

first option would be an overpayment.

kmart 10-15-2008 11:33 AM

which round malhotra was drafted ? i think the rangers picked him.

rigger 10-15-2008 11:42 AM

O'Marra and a mid pick?

The Thomas J.* 10-15-2008 10:50 PM

Midlevel prospect & 3rd round pick.

Blackhawkswincup 10-15-2008 10:55 PM

I didn't even know he was still in league!

1st round 7th overall in 1998 and you were right with the Rangers thing.

Canuckle 10-16-2008 01:48 AM

At least a 3rd rounder. Teams will be lucky if a 4th rounder can even developed into a Malhotra.

BeginPower 10-16-2008 08:48 AM

I would take him on the Habs for sure as the 4th line center at the trade Dealine ...

what about matt d'agostini for malhotra ?

kmad 10-16-2008 10:28 AM

Doubt Columbus moves him. He's worth more for them long-term than a fourth round pick would be.

Doug19 10-16-2008 10:32 AM

Malholtra would probably be worth a 3rd round playoff team pick. I also doubt he gets moved because he has been named to the leadership group in Columbus as well as being our key face-off man. I'd say he would stay because likely Peca won't be here after this year. Peca is the player that if CBJ is out of the playoff race will be dealt 100% guaranteed at the deadline. Peca would probably require a 2nd rounder though because of his high worth for the playoffs.

Blades 0f Steel 10-17-2008 04:28 PM

Malhotra on the Habs come deadline day. No matter what it takes, they need this guy if they want to go far.

2nd rounder 2010 for Malhotra + 6th.
