Prucha vs. Dawes
Who would you pick?

P.S. The linemates are Korpikoski and Callahan.

WhipNash27 10-14-2008 08:31 PM

I'm more partial to Prucha, but I'd still like to see what both can do.

007 10-14-2008 08:45 PM

Based on the way they played in the preseason and thus far in the regular season, I'd go with Prucha. I've noticed him more on the ice. Even though neither of them is scoring, I feel that Prucha has gotten stuck in to the play more when he's been playing, and I liked how he played with Callahan and the Korpedo. Neither one is going to take care of their own end that well.

Staalwart 10-14-2008 08:58 PM

Fritsche. His style of play fits with that lunch MUCH better than either of those two. Keep in mind hes only 23 and has a decent amount of offensive upside himself.

FLYLine24 10-14-2008 09:32 PM

Dawes, because he is better.

ECL 10-14-2008 09:42 PM

No poll for, "Dawes, because he's way cheaper"?

jas 10-14-2008 09:49 PM

Draft picks, because they might have some value.

Quoted for truth. Look, I own a Prucha jersey, which means that I like him enough to throw down $130 to bear his name. However, he has simply not gotten better, whereas Dawes has a higher ceiling. He has scored at every level and there is no reason to think that he won't be a 50-60 point scorer in the near future. Prucha topped out at 47 in his first season and will likely never reach that again, certainly not in a Rangers uni.

NHLsnipers 10-14-2008 10:43 PM

Dawes. Better in the shootout.

Edge 10-14-2008 10:54 PM

But I also think Fritsche's preseason play earned him a better deal than what he's been given so far.

I think I've reached the point of no return on Prucha.

NYR Viper 10-14-2008 11:04 PM

dawes because he is the better offensive player....

they are both offensive players and dawes is the better overall player in thet regard....he isnt as hard to knock off the puck and is better on the shootout

Loto68 10-14-2008 11:59 PM

Haha, I voted option #1, which tied the total for each player up at 19. However I voted #1 because that's what I believe, Dawes is so overrated on these boards.

z1co80 10-15-2008 06:49 AM

i choose option 2 but

where is the option for trading both as part of a package:laugh:

bumrusherer 10-15-2008 07:22 AM

Dawes is more talented and Prucha appears to work harder with more of an every shift impact.

In the end, I would put my eggs in the Dawes basket because talent is talent. You cant buy or develop his kind of vision, touch and skill.
He just needs to learn about how he can make an impact in the majority of his shifts and he'll become a productive 2nd or 3rd liner.

nexusrage21 10-15-2008 08:12 AM

Dawes definitely has that "new girlfriend can't do no wrong" thing going with a lot of people.

Neither one has really gotten a chance to get going this year, but I think of the two I'd rather see Prucha on that line.

I do like Fritsche in the spot though.

Bleed Ranger Blue 10-15-2008 08:20 AM

The fact that neither one has shown up early this season to claim a second line winger spot that was there for the taking is disturbing to say the least.

I didnt vote because my choice would be "neither"

frozenH20 10-15-2008 08:24 AM

Tough choice, neither player has shown they’re capable of meeting or exceeding past expectations. I voted for option 1 for several reasons -

Of (Prucha, Dawes, Frische, or Rissmiller) with Korpikoski and Callahan combinations, Prucha-Korpikoski-Callahan looked best - with a lot of energy, sustained pressure in Prague. Prucha seems to be doing everything better than last year – except finishing.

Sitting Prucha cost ~2.5x more and will not help his confidence. Playing him will at least help determine whether he’s capable or incapable of scoring and make moving forward with or without him more clear.

Dawes may have a greater upside, but thus far he’s been completely invisible. I can’t recall him touching the puck yet. Sitting him may actually help, just as sending him down did last season.

Celestial Black 10-15-2008 08:36 AM

Dawes..Pru is talented but has lost his finish, while Dawes may start slow but will end up finishing.

SingnBluesOnBroadway 10-15-2008 08:56 AM

Dawes for any number of reasons.

Fletch 10-15-2008 09:08 AM

at this moment, neither...at some point, I really don't know. I'd normally tend to say Dawes, but I actually think Prucha is a more well-rounded player who doesn't take off shifts. Dawes seems to take off games, but looks great in spurts.

Richter35 10-15-2008 09:17 AM

Dawes, but I think that he will be out the door by the end of the year if he doesnt pick it up fast. sjostrom has earned his spot and i feel like fritsche had a good game and has the tools to be a really good 3rd liner. I would love to squeeze a guy like kevin klein out of nashville for prucha (or maybe even dawes), that guy is stuck behind a solid top 5 there and he could flourish here as a #5 (with even more upside) for cheap, something we'll be needing next year.

FutureGM97 10-15-2008 09:20 AM

Neither....dump em both and use Fritsche.

donpaulo 10-15-2008 09:25 AM

the role on this line is preventing goals, and any goals scored is gravy. I see Dawes being to provide these types of skills in the long run (not to mention the salary issues)

further when Petr carries the puck I am always waiting for the next huge hit on him and wondering if he will get back up from it.

I wish there was enough time for BOTH of them.

I guess the Rangers have a good problem

nyr2k2 10-15-2008 09:37 AM

I voted Dawes. His overall offensive game will prove to be better, I think. Also, he's cheaper.

gilles lupien 10-15-2008 10:06 AM

trade them both fast. we can get hopefully get somebody good for them.
