Kyle Chipchura sent to Hamilton

http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/261731.html

Sounds like the right move if Higgins is healthy and all. And if Bouillon is coming back, there was no roster spot for Chips either.

Plus I'll be at Hamilton's home opener tomorrow night, so hopefully Kyle is playing. :)

At least this will quiet the "Where is Chipchura?" jokes for a short while.

Captain Saku 10-16-2008 02:39 PM

Chipchura is a victim of the depth that we have in montreal otherwise he'd be playing in the NHL now.

I wouldn't mind to use him as a trade bait though.

I heard that Richard score 5 goals and posted 1 assict in a gam and was named three stars of the game... Is it true? :sarcasm:

Well... At least he'll be able to get some icetime :(

Freaky Habs Fan 10-16-2008 02:40 PM

It's too bad because I think he'll be a decent player. I like his style...

Anyways, if he stays in our system, we'll see him next year for sure!

It was written on the wall since long with the comeback of all 3 injured players. He was the only player in Montreal with a two-way contract, and who did not have to go thru waivers

Better for him to play 20 minutes per game in Hamilton than rotting in the stands.

Who's out for next game ?

Bégin, Dandenault and Brisebois ?

If Bouillon and Higgins are both back, that's what I'd go with. Phoenix has some heavyweights, so Laraque may come in handy.

A. Kostitsyn - Plekanec - Kovalev
Latendresse - Koivu - Tanguay
Higgins - Lang - S. Kostitsyn
Kostopoulos - Lapierre - Laraque

Markov - Komisarek
Hamrlik - O'Byrne
Bouillon - Gorges

Corus Sports says Dandenault was back on defense in practice today, so that may be a sign that you could get your wish.

Rocket Jr. 10-16-2008 02:47 PM

It was only a question of time.
The way Lapierre played last night doesn't make it any easier for Chips in MTL.

montreal 10-16-2008 02:49 PM

Good to hear, I don't like to see young players sit. It does create a problem for Hamilton though, Lehoux, Desharnais, Maxwell and White have been the 4 centers, so someone will have to move to the wing or sit or both.

Yeah ! But I would switch Latendresse and Tanguay. Lats has always played RW in junior and Tanguay is first and above all a LW.

Laraque has to be in this line up for EVERY game.

Galchenyuk x 27 10-16-2008 02:54 PM

no surprise here, we all expected it. As soon as Higgins and Laraque were good to go, we know he was gone.

beowulf 10-16-2008 02:58 PM

Sucks but it had to be done with all the depth. I can only hope he gets some time at some point during the season.

CH4 10-16-2008 03:02 PM

He is better playing ne the ahl then watching NHL games.

MTL-rules 10-16-2008 03:08 PM

Where are all the people who said he was a lock in the roster, who put him in front of Lapierre, who would've benching him or trading Begin, Dandy... even Latendresse?

Where are they now?

...'cause I remember them clearly lecturing me about it...

wolfinhabsclothing 10-16-2008 03:10 PM

It's a shame for him, but hopefully he takes it well and is back in Montreal, or some other NHL city, soon. I like the kid, but with D'Agostini, Maxwell, Stewart, and Pacioretty all knocking at the door, what's the best the kid can hope for?

It seems like just yesterday, before Lang was acquired, that many of you thought I was nuts for saying Chips had no chance centering the 3rd line (or any line really) over Lapierre. Personally I think Chips outplayed Lapierre in camp, but Lapierre's speed, and agitation qualities, seem to intrigue Carbo.

Without Dandenault or Bégin around, he would had still been the number 13 forward. No good for a young player.

IMO chips has only competition with pacman. My memory may be wrong, but I don't remeber pacman being a center, oh well. I hope he stays with us, we'll be needing him.

No need to gloat. Besides, they had every right to suggest Chips should be playing, he was better then the players you mentioned in camp and if it wasn't for contract situations he would probably be with the team.

That said, Hamilton will be good for him and he'll be back soon enough.

toshiro 10-16-2008 03:15 PM

Chip

Hopefully he can be trade bait. I dont mind Dandy and I like Laps. Speed kills. This is the year that BG needs to go for it. How many cups has Iginlia won? Chip, Higgins, Fisher for Gaborik?

WJG 10-16-2008 03:16 PM

I have a feeling he's going to request a trade soon behind closed doors, and we'll see him moved for someone at the deadline.

I may not be considered pro for trades, but that seems a lot Sure gaby is an excellent player... but still... BAH! I don'T feel like repeating what has already been said a thousand times

zurg999 10-16-2008 03:18 PM

Classy move to keep him on the roster for that week or so, as it probably put an extra 30K in his pocket.

Well, considering I was trying to reason with them that Gainey seemed to have other plans that trading/waiving away veterans, I could either continue arguing with them until today's decision or, stop arguing about 3 weeks ago and let the events unfold and told them today... Told you so! ;)

I think I wasted a lot less time this way...
