A. Kostitsyn, Higgins, and Laraque out, Begin and Bouillon in, Chipchura called up

http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/261946.html

Kostitsyn (head), Laraque (groin) and Higgins (groin) are all out. Begin will replace Laraque, Bouillon will take Brisebois spot and Chipchura was called up.

montreal 10-20-2008 11:00 AM

I thought Begin had the flu, don't want him around the team and getting everyone sick if that's the case. Don't want that flu mess from 2 years ago. :shakehead

As for Chipchura, maybe they called him up to replace BGL after watching him fight on Saturday night. :sarcasm:

CPrice 10-20-2008 11:03 AM

Damn, Higgins is still out.

Tuggy 10-20-2008 11:04 AM

****...I want Higgins back.

No he's probably still tired from playing almost 12 mins on Saturday night. :sarcasm:

Hackett 10-20-2008 11:21 AM

sucks that higgins is out but I'm gald to see bouillon back

I guess we're down to 2 and one third scoring lines instead of 3.... damn, we're spoiled

Arctic_Hab_Fan 10-20-2008 11:24 AM

Keep the lines in tact, Lats - Koivu - Tanguay...

Plug - Pleks - Kovalev

Plug - Lang - Kostityn

instead of loading up the second line :)

Thank God, no more Brisebois!

Habsfan18 10-20-2008 11:25 AM

I agree completely, put Chipchura on the 2nd line, he's better then our plugers to catch passes or shooting the puck and keep Kosto on the 3rd

Bouillion is in the lineup... breezer is probably out.

You can't blame Carbo, and the doctors, for being cautious with Higgins and Laraque. With a game tonight, and nothing until Saturday, it just makes common sense to sit them out and let them be at 100% at the end of the week versus 90% now and risk an extended stay on the IR. Tonights lineup will be touch and go but I'd rather they be prudent. My guess as to the lines:

Koivu-Latendresse-Tanguay
Plekanec-Kovalev-S. Kostitsyn
Lang-Dandenault-Kostopoulos
Chipchura-Begin-Lapierre
Scratches: A. Kostitsyn, Laraque, Higgins

Markov-Komisarek
Hamrlik-O'Byrne
Gorges-Bouillon
Scratch: Brisebois

Halak
Price

The only thing is that we now have 4 spares. I didn't think Higgins was officially on IR, so am I to assume that Andrei now is?

la25ecoupe 10-20-2008 11:46 AM

Would be nice to see Chips..

What if we try something different:

Lappy-Plek-Kovy
Tanguay-Koivu-tender
SK-Lang-Kostopulos
Begin-chip-dandy

??
then you don,t change the lines that have chemistery - lang-sk
koivu-tang-tend

Any thoughs?

You just brought the Pleks line down to a two man team. Best to have 2 potent offensive lines than 1, 1/2, 1/2.

Dan K 10-20-2008 01:05 PM

While I feel Chipchura is the guy in Hamilton who most rightfully should be in Montreal, the call-up seems a little out of place to me. We have two goal-scoring wingers out, so we recall a two-way center??...

Why not call up Matt D'Agostini to play with Lang? IMO it would be a much better fit than having two fillers in Lapierre and Kostopolous on the third line.

CareyClutch 10-20-2008 01:10 PM

We maybe play 7 D tonight...

Carbonneau n'a d'ailleurs pas écarté la possibilité d'utiliser sept défenseurs, ce qui permettrait à Patrice Brisebois de conserver son poste.

but then the Lang-Lappy-Kosto is neither defensive nor offensive...

well, I guess we'll see tonight!

Enough of this defencemen playing forward stuff, just give the 4th line less time and double shift Kovalev or whoever. He probably won't get mad if he has to play 25 minutes.

habsrock60 10-20-2008 01:18 PM

Pretty dumb question but who hasn't played yet this year? Is it just Higgins? I missed Saturday's game.
