Why is he on RDS and not in the NHL?

Pierre Dagenais 11-01-2008 09:42 PM

Shoulder Injury (I think) and he sucks

Coldplay 11-01-2008 09:51 PM

He should play in the AHL, someone could give him a job there.

znk 11-01-2008 09:53 PM

He's a nice guy and like his tone and all but right now he doesnt bring a lot of insight. I have no doubt he'll work on that because he likes what he's doing.

Why should he ride the bus for a mediocre salary when he can live the good life working on TV?

Pascal 11-01-2008 09:58 PM

he's pretty good to me.. says it like it is.

Doesn't he ride the bus with the Montreal Junior?

LOVE having this guy on the RDS program. So smart, knows the game and has made some very accurate predictions. Even tonight against the Isles when he said if we got to 4-3, the Ilses would probably crumble. He's never over the top, never trying to push an agenda. sort of the opposite of Don Cherry (who by the way fortuitously likes "Korverlev" all of a sudden...you know, cuz he was the first star).

NOTE: PJ Stock just said (giving the highlights)- The Habs tied the game in the 4th period!!!

Also, I think Jacky D has a crush on Joey with all the fist pumps and back pats every time he does anything. I wish Bouchard was going to be on the lame ass wanna be "Best Damn", L'Antichambre (that's a prediction, I know it starts tomorrow, but wow, that deserves its own thread...why Alain Chantelois...WHY!!!).

.

lol I too laughed when he said he had one word to describe all that and then went on a tirade lol but to be fair he did say the one word and then go on the tirade...

Really ?
Could have been worse I guess. He could have said 4th quarter.. with a touchdown.

the best quote from bouchard up to now: " le hockey, c'est 90% mental pis 10% dans la tête"

:sarcasm:

couz 11-01-2008 10:06 PM

He had potential to be good...very smart player, knows the game, just either had bad luck or bad timing trying to crack a roster.

MastaK 11-01-2008 10:11 PM

I like him. He seems comfortable on TV, knows his hockey. Perfect fit IMO.

Redux91 11-01-2008 10:35 PM

Ey joel bouchard knows his ****, betta rekonize

TheDamned 11-01-2008 10:48 PM

He's the only hockey knowledgeable person on RDS right now.

Travis Moen 11-01-2008 10:52 PM

He is great.
He knows his hockey and is the best communicator after Pierre Houde.

Phil Parent 11-01-2008 10:57 PM

He's great, and his insight is great.

I guess evolution passed him by in the NHL and he wasn't ready to embark on a tour of Europe.

The fact is, the lock-out allowed the man to become known in the hockey and media circles with his McDonald's Tourney thing (Remember that? Don't. Dark times, bad show, I went. Exhibition play always sucks unless it's an old timers game that gets intense...) and then he did his McDonald's Hockey Academy TV show.

People discovered his personality and he discovered himself a back-up plan if playing D became a bit too complicated.

benji 11-01-2008 11:28 PM

I've enjoyed Bouchard and I like how he presents his arguments and his stories. He's quirky and funny, but he also brings good points, often from a players perspective. Often, players will be the bland ones presenting the obvious arguments (Roenick, Hull, Avery and such are exceptions), but he seems to be the one who's not afraid to speak against the grain sometimes, and I'd say he's usually right.
