Montreal Canadiens (33-25-6-2) VS. New-Jersey Devils (33-19-11-1)

Game Time: 7:30 PM EST, Monday , March 1rst.
Where: Bell Center, Montreal, Quebec
TV: Reseaux des Sports
Radio: Ckac AM 730

Previous Meeting(s) this year: (Montreal 0-1-0-0)

January 23rd, 2004 - Habs 0, Devils 2

News and Notes: With their 4rth win in a row, the habs did consolidate their position in the race for the post season. Last game played against the defensive team of carolina, it wouldn't be surprising to see the same Defensive type of game from the Devils... Nevertheless, New-jersey's offense is on fire as of late, and the team is maybe trying to prove to the league they CAN be an offensive threat as well as a defensive stronghold.

---Relatively untested for the opening two periods, Brodeur made 21 saves to match his single-season career high for shutouts in a 2-0 victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Friday night.

"I was really in the zone," Brodeur said after moving within five shutouts of the NHL modern-era record set by Chicago's Tony Esposito in 1969-70.

"I knew these guys were really hot and playing well defensively. I knew I wouldn't get many shots, and these are the kind of games where you have to really focus."----- Source: www.canadiens.com, Post-report of the january 23rd match-up.

GO HABS GO

TroyM 02-29-2004 09:48 PM

Hey very nice job. I'm predicting 4-2 win with Markov winning it.

Carbonneau 02-29-2004 10:27 PM

Best game thread yet.....sorry j.l.roberts

oli500 02-29-2004 11:30 PM

Lets go after are 5th straight win. The devils blueline is really hurting right now and the habs should take advantages of it.

Necrophile 03-01-2004 02:01 AM

Hear ye! Hear ye! Come try your luck on this game's Betting Thread!

Good job on the game thread, Catala.

Hope Komisarek gets to play tonight...

montreal 03-01-2004 09:32 AM

Nice job!

Big big big game tonight. A win will be tough, but it would put us only 2 pts behind the devils in this 4 pt game. Now I'd be happy just to make the playoffs, but if we can move up, great.

Traitor8 03-01-2004 09:33 AM

Do you guys think we can catch 4th place in the East to get home advantage?

I agree, you have to exploit the other team's weakness(s). Usually the devils don't have very many weaknesses when they're really on their defensive style game.

No.

It's nice to see new people starting game threads. It gives us a new perspective on things.

My thanks to everyone who took the plunge this year and did a game thread.

This one is one of my faves.

4shelley4 03-01-2004 11:21 AM

hi

They need to get infront of Martin on the PP, hopefully we jump out to a 1-0 lead in the first period.

GO HABS GO

Catala 03-01-2004 11:28 AM

Thank you all for the kind words, i only hope this GT is as informative for you than it was for me when i did it ;)

I love to have some stats at hand to find my way in a game.

As for tonight: !!! Go habs Go !!!

Jozeph_balej, If we lose tonight, you can blame it on me :D

Darz 03-01-2004 02:20 PM

I agree. While injuries aren't ever a nice thing, the Habs have to use them to their advantage, just like any other team would do.

FIVE WINS A ROW! I know they can do it.
Umm, 3-1 Habs, with an empty netter finishing them off.

And, for the sake of all of us, let's hope the Habs score the first goal, so we won't fall asleep.

BLONG7 03-01-2004 02:41 PM

2-2 Tie... Koivu and Markov!!!

Tuggy 03-01-2004 02:42 PM

Tonight marks the 3rd time this season we enter a game 8 games above .500. we are 0-2 so far in theses situations and havent been 9 games over .500 in at least 3 seasons. the first game was January 23rd at NJ - we lost 2-0. the second wasfebruary 10th at florida - we lost 2-1. Third times a chram though right?

i predict a win 4 - 1 mtl

417 03-01-2004 03:20 PM

The key to winning this game is scoring the 1st goal, as it always is vs. the Devils, this forces them to open up, which is not the best part of their game...

Bill McNeal 03-01-2004 03:36 PM

My random score generator predicts a Habs victory. 1-0, sounds about right.

I agree, and I feel that the injured defensive core in NJ is the right opportunity to take it to NJ down low right from the opening whistle. Don't ever let them get a lead and sit back into trap-land.

Drive for five!!

jcpenny 03-01-2004 03:45 PM

I can't belive believe that we won five games in a row with Perrault on our first line. I still hope that it wont last long, who knows, maybe tonight will change since he didnt do much last saturday.

montreal 03-01-2004 04:30 PM

Devils just added Kozlov from the panthers.

Dutchy 03-01-2004 04:40 PM

We're meeting them again on the 19th and 20th...

March will be a nice month.
