Best Danish Player currently in the NHL?
 

Who's it going to be? All three, count them 3, just 3 Danes in the NHL but all 3 are making their full-time debut this season. What a coincidence! So who's the best Danish player thus far?

-Jannik Hansen, Vancouver Canucks, 7 points in 11 games.
-Frans Nielsen, New York Islanders, 7 points in 15 games.
-Mikkel Boedker, Phoenix Coyotes, 7 points in 13 games.

Mikkel Boedker is and will be the better player in the future

Hansen has been fantastic for the Canucks too.

5th last pick in the 04' draft.

Boedker will be the best, but right now it's Hansen.

Frans Nielsen is the most rounded player out of these three, looks like a smart signing by Garth Snow at $525k a year for four years.

Seconded. Hansen was playing fantastically in both ends of the ice before getting injured.

I thought Andreas Nodl of the Flyers was referred to as a Dane the other night but he's actually Austrian. He would lose to Thomas Vanek pretty handily in that poll.

Frans nielsen = underrated.

I think Boedker is still the most rounded out of the 3.. Top PK unit-Top PP unit almost 18 mins on ice a game...

I guess it's fair to say that the Danes develop well-rounded hockey players :)

I can't comment on the other two yet, as I've only seen a couple of Boedker's games and haven't seen Nielsen play yet... but Hansen looks to be a solid 2-way player, being a perfect fit on the right side with Kesler and Burrows, forming the canucks top shutdown line. He's played every game against the top lines, while playing on the PK and not getting any PP time, and has 7 pts in 11 games. He's also been a prominent part of that line, and isn't just being carried by better players. Looks to have all the tools too... very good skater, good shot, works his butt off every shift.

Still early in his career, but he looks like a solid all-around player who'll only get better.

Nielsen is actually a beast.

But I'll go with MB.

The only knock I'd have on Hansen ths year is that he hasn't finished all of his opportunities. There's been times (I think twice) that all he has to do is finish off a one timer for a goal and he has whiffed on the shot or put it wide. Apart from those 2 obvious times, he has done a great job.

I'd like to see him wth the Sedins at some point. He can cycle with them and looks to be smart enough to know when to break it and where to go. Unfortunately, with the criticism I offered before, he could end up like most Sedinmates and not get the shot off when it's given.

I wanted Boedker in the draft:( So Boedker it is.

The real winner is the country of Denmark that such a thread can even take place and not be a joke.
