Which player will retire without a cup?

Well, there are some players who've been in the game for a while, and have not won a cup yet.

Iginla
Tkachuk
Doan
O. Jokinen
Sundin
Smyth
Alfredsson
Nolan

So who will it be to retire without a cup?

sabresfan129103 11-15-2008 10:30 PM

out of that list I'm gonna go with Tkachuk. unless sundin signs with detroit he's not gonna win it either.

daveskirtun 11-15-2008 10:42 PM

Picked Jokinen

Luongo2008* 11-15-2008 10:48 PM

uhh Sundin.

CANUCKER4LIFE19* 11-15-2008 10:49 PM

vippe 11-15-2008 10:50 PM

Unless Sundin signs with a contender I dont think anyone of those will..

puzzle 11-15-2008 10:52 PM

Tkachuk

goggog 11-16-2008 01:09 AM

Should have made this a multi-option poll

deanmoriarty 11-16-2008 01:38 AM

Iginla, I hope :sarcasm:

mouser 11-16-2008 02:06 AM

Probably all of them, with the best chance of actually getting a cup being Jokinen IMHO. He's only 29 and will likely be a UFA after next season so who knows where he ends up playing. The other players are either locked into a team that doesn't look to have a good cup shot in the near future, nearing the ends of their careers, or both.

Should be a multi-choice poll

FlyLife 11-16-2008 02:28 AM

Sundin, cause the only way he is getting a cup is if he joins Detroit...and I just don't see that happening.

Noori 11-16-2008 02:31 AM

All of them, yes, including Iginla. I just wish he would have done it back in '04. This guy really deserves to win it.

Hale The Villain 11-16-2008 02:57 AM

Poor Alfie :shakehead

He is stuck on a team full of underachievers who can't change their own diapers without his help

They lost against the New York Islanders....... twice :help:

It's quite sad actually

tesplen 11-16-2008 03:55 AM

I can't really see any of those guys winning cups at this point. Alfredsson and Iginla had their chances recently and it didn't work out, and I don't see them getting back there. The rest are mostly getting older/playing on teams that aren't contenders now or for the forseeable future, and in a few cases locked in long term with those teams. Best shot out of those listed I would give Jokinen and Sundin; Jokinen due to age and contract status, Sundin because he's a UFA who could sign for a contender half-way through the season this year if he wanted.

Oh man, I didn't know Detroit already won the cup for this season. Why should we all even try? Let's just reset for the 09-10 season.

Macke* 11-16-2008 05:36 AM

Many of those players will retire without a cup

Spectaculard 11-16-2008 06:04 AM

Is Koivu a lock to win the cup now? Im fine with that.

Harrison Ford 11-16-2008 10:44 AM

Alfredsson

I didn't know they handed the Cup out in November.

I think he meant that if Sundin signed with Detroit right now to go along with the glut of players they already have that it'd make the Wings extremely difficult to beat in a 7-game series. I don't think any sane hockey fan (homers excluded) would consider Detroit the prohibitive favorite to repeat right now based on their on-ice problems. Sundin on the Wings would create this:

Holmstrom - Datsyuk - Hossa
Sundin - Zetterberg - Franzen
Hudler - Filppula - Samuelsson
Maltby - Draper - Cleary

Lidstrom - Rafalski
Kronwall - Stuart
Lilja - Lebda

Osgood

Very difficult lineup to beat if they don't implode or Osgood doesn't fall apart.

Celestial Black 11-16-2008 12:22 PM

Sundin and probably Alfredsson.

danishh 11-16-2008 12:51 PM

Sundin, Nolan.

I wont say anything about alfie, except that he still has a few chances left.
