Briere Groin Injury (Not expected to play vs. Dallas Nov. 24)

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/...hoot-outs.html

Says his groin is healing slower than expected and he should be in the lineup at Buffalo.............but we all know how groins are! Time will tell....

dbr2 11-16-2008 01:01 AM

thanks for the update.

ELab2 11-16-2008 01:02 AM

it actually says he STILL HOPES to be back in the lineup against Buffalo. I wouldn't count on it.

And after tonights performance as this team continues to show they can win and play well without him I don't think they'll rush him back if he's not 100%

I do not think they should rush him even if we lose.
Vaananen (different injury) is a perfect example. Was not worth it.

I agree, but this is still a better offense team with him in the line-up than with him out. Our PP sorely misses Danny when he's out--it was obvious last night.

i had a pulled/strained whatever you wanna call it groin once... next day i went to get in the shower and i couldnt even lift my leg high enough to get in... it sucked. it was probably a good month before it was 100%.

groins can be tricky and can nag. hopefully he doesnt come back til hes 100%.

McNasty 11-16-2008 10:15 AM

Yea groin injuries are pesky but we need a healthy Briere.

That took a second to register. And when it did I just slowly shook my head...

Perverts!

oh my...

BlackTuuk 11-16-2008 03:52 PM

I know the guy is getting a cool 10M this year, but they can't afford to "Lindros" the guy back into the fold. Letting him heal properly is obviously best.

Cleary84 11-16-2008 03:55 PM

I think we should give him as much time as possible. We beat the habs last night and we played good against the pens while he was out. If we can do what we're doing without him, why not just let him heal completely for less risk of damaging it more.

Well if that's true, Spin City nicked it from English comedian Tommy Cooper.

Yeah it seems they can never play together for more than a handful of games at a time :(

Cessna 11-16-2008 10:34 PM

I really hope he is able to come back for the Buffalo game...it would be a shame if he had to miss that one.

BadHammy* 11-16-2008 10:38 PM

Right on guys. Let him heal fully!

Kaktus* 11-17-2008 10:29 AM

November 17th

Briere skated yesterday and could also return at week's end. Briere missed six games after abdominal surgery, then suffered a groin pull in the Veterans Day game at the Islanders, his second game back.

"He skated and he felt better," coach John Stevens said. "So I'm hopeful that he could be back by the end of the week. He's still not 100 percent, but he's better."

Ohh sorry. somewhere on philly.com

ipayyou1000 11-17-2008 05:59 PM

They just had a clip about Briere on Sportsnite. Briere says he's feeling a lot better and is on schedule to practice with the team tomorrow and play in the late in the week games vs Buff and whoever. Good News.................

of course this is all subject to change b/c it's a groin!

Good new nontheless.

Miss Mess 11-17-2008 07:15 PM

I guess it's a good thing we have no games until Friday, so Briere has more time to get better without missing games
