Nicknames: Players real nicknames & fun suggestions

Anybody know the real nicknames the players use with each other?

I was at the game last night, and I came up with a nickname for D'Agostini. How does the Dagger sound?

What a goal, reminded me of a couple Mario Lemieux goals I have witnessed. What speed & hands!

My friend also suggested we change his jersey number to 77 to simulate daggers in the XBOX NHL 09 game. That's cool!

Here's my nickname suggestions:
  • Hamrlik: Hammer
  • Brisebois: Woodpecker? haha
  • Bouillon: Soup
  • OByrne: Thief (I know that's in bad taste, but...it makes me laugh) I hope he plays a good game tomorrow night vs. Lightning

p.s. Habsinsideout.com is an amazing site to get your HABS FIX daily. Lots of audio bytes which i love :yo:

Out of 5 you listed, 2 of them are already widely used on this board.

Interesting... I guess great minds think alike ;)

Melnik was just grilling Eliotte Friedman of CBC about player's real nicknames that are in the least creative, instead of just "Pricer" and "Hammer" and "Kovy". Clearly Friedman knew a couple but he wouldn't tell.

Anyone know? Not just Habs.

Some of the nick's ive heard from the locker room interviews:

Price: Pricey
D'agostini: Dags
Koivu: Socks (from Saku im guessing)
Brisebois: Breezer
Kovalev: Kovy
Bouillion: Frankie (funny enough i heard that on CJAD, from Francis to Frankie, why not i guess)

My suggestions? I like the ones that start in the lockeroom, ill use those.

if we ever meet, there's a story to this that has to be told.

My Dad often calls tall people, String of Misery.

Markov - The General...I think Koivu called him that.
Komisarek - Komo
Kovalev - Kovy

Brisebois - Breezer/Breeze-by
O'Byrne - OB
Dandenault - Dandy
Hamrlik - Hammer
Gorges - "Did you know he was the captain of the Kelowna Rockets?"

Laraque - BGL
D'Agostini - Dagger

Marc Bergevins Suit 12-10-2008 08:34 PM

Scoring Funk - Master Flex

The Supersonik Fan 12-10-2008 08:44 PM

Brisebois = Crackwood

SergeConstantin74 12-10-2008 09:24 PM

French style

S. Ko = Le bon Serge
A. Ko = Le frère André

#57 12-10-2008 10:07 PM

Two that I'd like to see stick around here:

Lapierre = The Rock (that's his name translated to englisg... la pierre, the rock)
Ryan O'Byrne = ROB (fits way too well with the purse stealing, and its his initials RyanOByrne... even better than SOB [Shane O'Brien])

Also like the THE BELARUSSIAN ROCKET for Andrei Kostitsyn.

...is it sad that after years of hearing him called "cube," I just now realized that it is not only his stature/build, but also the fact that his last name's kitchen variety alter ego also comes in cubes?

:help:
