JD was on Sports Desk and he said two interesting things:

1) He does not think that the Rangers are done. I agree as I think there would be teams who would like to add a Rucinsky, Simon or Barnaby for a playoff run but that those guys seem like they would be deadline day deals.

2) With the number of picks that the Rangers had accumulated in the three deals (1st rd 04, 2 2nd 04, 2 '05) JD sees the Rangers (who he thinks will have a lot of trouble winning very many games down the stretch) will be in a position to really move up in the draft.

and i wouldnt be suprised to see another couple of picks ranging from the second round on coming to NY.

like i said, this team stands a very real shot at finishing second only to Pitts. when all is said and done, in which case they still have an excellent lottery shot.

how about these trades:

malakhov/mironov + simon/barnaby for volchenkov/rachunek + a late draft pick

or

rucinsky malakhov/mironov + simon/barnaby for erskine + a mid draft pick.

personally, i dont think sathers been addressing our need for physical defensemen..


hopefully we'll get lucky and pick up Barker :bow:

I think we all would love to add another physical defenseman or two, and one way or another that area will get adressed. Whether it be in upcoming trades, or in the selection of our hoard of draft picks. As it stands now the future of our defense corps doesn't look too shabby.
