Crosby or Malkin?

Your team has 10 million in cap space, and both Crosby and Malkin are UFA. The Pens can only afford to resign one, who would you sign?

Doug19 12-20-2008 06:36 PM

Crosby probably.

Stephen 12-20-2008 06:44 PM

Malkin's size and skillset is too compelling. I'm also afraid Crosby will have injury problems his whole career the way he plays.

Luongo2008* 12-20-2008 06:56 PM

Uhh, Malkin....

Dr Grant 12-20-2008 07:19 PM

Malkin Pretty Easily. Both Have Similar playmaking Styles, but Malkins ability to play physical and put the puck in the net makes him more valuable in my opinion.

tony d 12-20-2008 07:34 PM

Sidney Crosby

TimeZone 12-20-2008 07:42 PM

Malkin

oilsands 12-20-2008 08:19 PM

Crosby.
19yo league MVP, Art Ross, Pearson.

Malkin, none of the above and older.

Anyone who voted for Malkin just looked up the to date stats and voted on that basis.
The same reason why 'hfboarders' vote for Kane/Semin over St Louis.... because they just....don't....know.

So, anyone who dont agree with you doesn't watch the games and dont know what they are talking about?

I voted for Crosby, but its obviously very close...

I like Crosby better personally, but Malkin is the more compelling player. Who cares what Crosby and Malkin were doing at 19?

Malkin is roughly Crosby's equal talent wise, he has the classic number one centerman's frame and looks like he's more durable. For argument's sake, if you have two pretty identical players, why wouldn't you take the bigger and stronger one?

And what's wrong with taking Patrick Kane over St. Louis? By your logic, Kane is a top scorer in the NHL at 19. Where was Martin St. Louis at 19? University?

lakai17 12-20-2008 09:09 PM

Malkins makin **** happen!

octopi 12-20-2008 09:15 PM

I said Crosby, based on prior history and whatnot. Watch Malkin get an 180 point season and make me look like an idiot now.

Although kind of hard to go really too far wrong on this. It should be noted that Malkin is about 5 inches taller, but right now is so skinny they are nearly the same weight. He might get a little heavier....taller players tend to muscle up into their mid 20's.

SilverSeven 12-20-2008 09:15 PM

Crosby without any inkling of doubt.

Haha, what?

ShawnTHW 12-21-2008 12:25 AM

Give me Malkin 9/10 times.

Malkins game I think is more complete. Crosby just has better passing than Malkin does, but Malkin is on par with Crosby on everythin IMHO. And he has bette stickhandling skills than Crosby does and his size is also an advantage. So I would take Malkin but not necessarily by much.

Malkin is taller, but there is no doubt that sid is stronger, the dude is a tree.

Morozov 12-21-2008 03:38 AM

I love the people who spout off about Malkin being the complete package blah blah blah and obviously have no idea that on the ice Sid does so many little things that few people appreciate. If you strip Sid of his offensive skills you would still have a pretty bloody good 3rd liner. Thats half of what makes Sid so great to me.

In 2008, Malkin has 120 points in 76 games. Enough said. It's not a hot streak.

Lol yeah the idea that Malkin is just on a recent hot streak is pretty amusing.

Davebo 12-21-2008 07:17 AM

Hmmm - I'll take the one least likely to default on his contract and bolt for home. Whoever that is, I'll take the other....

Well, projecting down the road, I see Crosby being a short strong guy like Forsberg or Bourque, but I see Malkin with one of those immovable Sundin/Thornton frames with incredible reach, etc.

Celestial Black 12-21-2008 03:45 PM

I'd choose Malkin.

BrindamoursNose 12-21-2008 04:10 PM

Malkin cause he's never been seriously hurt and Crosby has

Luongo2008* 12-22-2008 12:21 PM

malkin
