Crosby or Malkin?
Your team has 10 million in cap space, and both Crosby and Malkin are UFA. The Pens can only afford to resign one, who would you sign?
|
Crosby probably.
|
Malkin's size and skillset is too compelling. I'm also afraid Crosby will have injury problems his whole career the way he plays.
|
Uhh, Malkin....
|
Malkin Pretty Easily. Both Have Similar playmaking Styles, but Malkins ability to play physical and put the puck in the net makes him more valuable in my opinion.
|
Sidney Crosby
|
Malkin

Crosby.
19yo league MVP, Art Ross, Pearson. Malkin, none of the above and older. Anyone who voted for Malkin just looked up the to date stats and voted on that basis. The same reason why 'hfboarders' vote for Kane/Semin over St Louis.... because they just....don't....know. |

I voted for Crosby, but its obviously very close... |

Malkin is roughly Crosby's equal talent wise, he has the classic number one centerman's frame and looks like he's more durable. For argument's sake, if you have two pretty identical players, why wouldn't you take the bigger and stronger one? And what's wrong with taking Patrick Kane over St. Louis? By your logic, Kane is a top scorer in the NHL at 19. Where was Martin St. Louis at 19? University? |
Malkins makin **** happen!
|
I said Crosby, based on prior history and whatnot. Watch Malkin get an 180 point season and make me look like an idiot now.
Although kind of hard to go really too far wrong on this. It should be noted that Malkin is about 5 inches taller, but right now is so skinny they are nearly the same weight. He might get a little heavier....taller players tend to muscle up into their mid 20's. |
Crosby without any inkling of doubt.

Give me Malkin 9/10 times.
Malkins game I think is more complete. Crosby just has better passing than Malkin does, but Malkin is on par with Crosby on everythin IMHO. And he has bette stickhandling skills than Crosby does and his size is also an advantage. So I would take Malkin but not necessarily by much. |

I love the people who spout off about Malkin being the complete package blah blah blah and obviously have no idea that on the ice Sid does so many little things that few people appreciate. If you strip Sid of his offensive skills you would still have a pretty bloody good 3rd liner. Thats half of what makes Sid so great to me.

Hmmm - I'll take the one least likely to default on his contract and bolt for home. Whoever that is, I'll take the other....

I'd choose Malkin.
