better there than playing lazy in Buffalo

Does that refer to Maxim Afinogenov? Does it elaborate any further? That would be a shame for the NHL to lose such a talented player if it does in fact refer to 61...these players like Afinogenov, Saprykin, Chistov, etc. are all exceptionally talented but they get stuck on the fourth lines with garbage men like Andrew Peters, Brian McGratton and Shawn Thornton and they expect results...I understand that they have to earn it, but sometimes it almost becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy with these guys, it's a real shame...

Have you seen Afinogenov this year?

the problem with Max isn't in the effort on the ice, it must be the effort off the ice. Everyone learned his moves and his tricks, and he's got nothing new to show.

It is the effort on the ice. He doesn't play responsible hockey. He's not willing to take one for the team on defense, nor rein in his 'skills' when the situation calls for it. He bobs and waves, and turns it over. every time. He has the worst +/- on the Sabres, and that's with sitting a good pile of games.

And expect things to be handed to them. With these guys its a lack of work ethic. Chistov had one ok year and expected to be handed top 6 minutes the next season. Saprykins offensive game never developed and he couldnt produce enough to stay top 6 but wasnt really physical enough to play bottom 6. Afinogenov has just been to inconsistent to be a top 6 guy as well.

its a bit of both. he refuses to get better to keep D on their toes, and on the ice he refuses to go beyond or play responsibly in spite of the former
