Brett Sutter recalled

As per TSN http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=2605...=headlines_nhl

Interesting that he gets called and not lundmark.... anyone see his play in QC?

early xmas present from dad to son if u ask me

Ticonderoga 12-22-2008 12:54 PM

A bit odd I agree?

Must be so he can spend Christmas with the family?

Anyone know more details?

StreakingRed 12-22-2008 01:16 PM

Nice, I'm looking forward to seeing Sutter play with the big club. Solid energy guy and looked good in pre-season.

Nepotism? Really, I take it you've never read anything PIMking has written about him. This kid earned his call up.

ya one goal in 28 games AHL games sure deserves an NHL callup over a guy who was the AHL player of the month for November.
TSN's ice chips had boyd on the second line with langkow and bertuzzi for practice today

Who would you rather the Flames called up a fouth line energy player? I take it a goal scorer? Though I have no idea why, the Flames don't need goal scoring from the fourth line.

Lundmark is good for a top six replacement but on the fourth line...a player like Sutter is perfect.

so by your logic Lundmark should be in the NHL before Primeau, Nystrom, Prust & Roy right?... Sutter is being recalled for the same reasons Peters was earlier, except they don't expect him to fight

:shakehead Wow.

Anyways good for Sutter. he deserves it and anyone who has seen the kid play will agree. He is perfect for the 4th line and will do well in the limited icetime he gets.

Boyd finally getting the chance again to play in the top 6. Thought he has looked great the last couple games and hoepfully he can continue playing well with the better linemates now.

PIMking 12-22-2008 07:38 PM

Sutter is the man on PK. He will not stand out besides he will only get 4 mins at the most. You dont call up a scorer to do a grinders job.

Peters got a shot, Lundmark got a shot at a top 6 and lets see what sutter can do.

Hes a pure heart hockey player. Makes up for his loss at skills. But hell put him on a line with lundmark and greentree or lundmark and chucko and watch his stats go up. Hes a grinder and a pure hockey heart player. He is probably the best pure heart player in all of hockey.

Interesting. I for one am looking forward to seeing him play in the big league and see how he fares. I take it Sutter is playing tonight vs Anaheim?

poor guy. With his name and your attitude, he would never get a chance! Good thing his talent was the real reason for his call up! Hey, the genes probabley helped too.

GoFlames 12-23-2008 11:09 PM

Well great job and a goal by Sutter. I think there is some crow to be had! :naughty:

flamesfan12 12-23-2008 11:14 PM

Really good game from Sutter. Brought exactly what I thought he would and more. After he laid out that hit on his first shift I just knew he'd have a good game. Played more then I though he would, but proved he deserved it. Was great on the forecheck, always finished his check and went to the net which resulted in Moss' and his goals.

Wrong. Maybe do your research before you post. And maybe just have a little faith......thats what being a fan is about.......and PIMking was right, there was a lot of heart about young Bretts play and I, as a Flames fan, was rooting for him like crazee.....!!

Glad I could help :)

To be fair, the best pure heart player in all of hockey may be a bit of an overstatement but, the kid is a beauty. If he can contribute energy like that game in and game out, you certainly have a big leaguer.

Wrong about what? the best pure heart player in all of hockey? that's laughable for a guy who hasnt stepped on the ice for his first NHL game...its an insult to all the other NHL players.

regardless, there are plenty of players like him in the minor....it's the name and the GM father that got him here...MOD EDIT...hopefully he makes the most of it.....I hope the best for him, it's not his fault.
