Travis Zajac

Suppose New Jersey for some reason wanted to trade him.

Dr Grant 12-24-2008 12:24 AM

Dont think he'll be leaving Jersey any time soon. But hes a potential 60-70 point player in his prime. I'd Compare him to Tomas Plekanec, even though he may not be as good as him yet.

Jimmy McNulty 12-24-2008 12:25 AM

Pretty high, I imagine. Probably up there with the value of a guy like Dubinsky. Rolston is not getting any younger and Zajac is starting to become a nice player...makes sense that NJ would want to keep him as part of their future at center.

TheDevilMadeMe 12-24-2008 02:55 AM

He's a solid 2-way center who is quite good on the PK.

But I really think he's worth more to the Devils than to any other team because of:
1) Their lack of top centers
2) His chemistry with Parise

britdevil 12-24-2008 03:08 AM

Parise and Zajac are bff.

He isn't going anywhere.

Zubrus Coffee Maker 12-24-2008 09:37 AM

he projects to be a 2nd line center, but i really hope they keep him

would the devils be interested in..

Vermette + Kuba + SJ's first round pick 2008?

It would give you guys a Puck moving defenseman for the playoffs as well.. This would only be if it is clear that Ottawa is missing the playoffs this year.

The value is there, but I just don't see Lou moving the kid. They love their home grown players that progress.

mstad101 12-24-2008 11:48 AM

id compare him to a ryan Kesler.
always had the talent n potential. just the hands seem to disappear from time to time.

so id project to a team in rebuilding mode 2nd Line Vet n 2nd tier Prospect at the deadline.

But imho, id shoot for a 1st line shooter, or a #1-3 Puck Mover
(this is becuz im a HUGE Kesler/Zajac fan)

We don't. For any reason. He's growing so quickly, he's already the best defensive center on the Devils in my opinion (yes, better than Madden), and that comes with quality point totals.

Kesler is a good comparison.

I dont think he would get traded, but if it was for that, i dont see how Lou could turn that down.

I don't think Lou will trade for a pick that already came and went. ;)

Brendan Morrison during the West Coast Express haydays. Good, solid 2 way, not good enough to be a top line center but a great 2nd line center who can slide into any sort of role.
