NOTES: The Montreal Canadiens are starting their annual post Christmas road trip with a game in Pittsburgh to face the Penguins. This will be the first meeting of the season between these two teams. The Canadiens finished up a stretch of 10 of 11 games at home in which they went 6-2-2. After Pittsbugh, the Habs will head to the State of Florida to play the Panthers (12/29) and the Lightning (12/30) before finishing the trip in New Jersey on January 2nd.

The Pittsburgh Penguins are having a tough stretch lately playing with more downs than ups. They lost last Saturday to the Maple Leafs 7-3 before losing to the worst team in the league in Tampa Bay 3-1. Last year the Penguins lost both games at home vs the Habs including the second one in the shootout in which Andrei Markov scored in the 8th round. The Penguins are however coming off a shutout win over the Devils on Friday night.

Great GDT Harry!

Hopefully we stump Pittsburgh, god I hate the penguins, more than the Bruins and the Leafs

Moen in Glory 12-26-2008 08:53 PM

You're missing Début.

Roulin 12-26-2008 09:43 PM

So who gives Crosby the vengeful genital walloping? I vote Lapierre.

guest1467 12-26-2008 10:18 PM

Hopefully the hate hasnt died down too much, there was a series of games these two teams played where a little bit of a rivarly was forming; hopefully the trend continues. I still remember the last game against them, really pissed me off, was quite the see-saw game with Pittsburgh scoring the last two goals to win it.

BGL is not playing tomorrow

guest1467 12-26-2008 10:27 PM

Wow, we are only 7-5-2 on the road, thats just not good enough.

Jag68Sid87 12-26-2008 10:28 PM

Hey guys,
just a FYI on the Pens lineup. Wallace and Taffe were sent back down, Bissonnette and Jeffrey were called up and played tonight in Jersey. Lines should look like this...

Dupuis-Crosby-Satan
Fedotenko-Malkin-Sykora
Cooke-Staal-Talbot
Bissonnette-Jeffrey-Godard

Orpik-Scuderi
Eaton-Whitney
Goligoski-Boucher

These games are always fun, hope we get another one.

Groin again, or healthy scratch?

MonacoBlue 12-26-2008 10:30 PM

I support this team through thick and thin and rarely question what Gainey does or bash our players BUT I will be very disappointed if the Habs don't win tomorrow. Destroys these mother****ing Penguins, boys! This is all I ask for.

I think it's still groin.

Big game, boys. Are we expected to lose ? If so, it's a win.

Was hurt blocking a shot three games ago. Missed the last two with the infamous "undisclosed" injury. Ryan Whitney came back and took his place in the lineup, but we're really hurting without Letang. Probably our best defenseman overall this season, so far.

So, Letang was sent down for conditioning reasons, or is just out with an injury. I'd be baffled too if he was sent down and nothing was wrong.

I ****ing hate the Penguins. The all-time most tankers who get lucky in drafting top talent. I always enjoy beating those tankers. Their management just gets lucky to have so much deep talent when they tank.

Shred 12-26-2008 11:02 PM

Nice GDT!

Just a little detail, it's Ryan Whitney and you have Scuderi on there twice.

Phil Parent 12-26-2008 11:05 PM

Tanking when the first overall pick is consensus to be an impact player requires no luck, only low self-esteem to lose on purpose. And the Penguins are only second in history to the Nords in that category.

Really, only second to the 89-90 Nords. The most pathetic (Intentional?) tailspin in hockey history.

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/leagues/seasons/teams/0000471990.html

Playing 40 games with goalies near a 5.00 GAA can't be trying to win.

However, coming back to Pissburgh, winning the lottery to get Crosby was luck. And to think it could have been us. I love Carey Price though.

Yeah I can't say I am too upset about how that lottery and draft turned out.

totalrecall 12-27-2008 12:19 AM

I hope all the habs wearing cups. We all know what's Crosby is capable of.

Zen Arcade 12-27-2008 01:46 AM

Nice GDT, Dustin Jeffrey wears #42, by the way.

Too bad Laraque isn't playing, I guess Godard doesn't have a dance partner. Maybe Bissonnette will go with someone.

anarmandaleb 12-27-2008 02:42 AM

I have a lot riding on this game, so our boys better zamboni the Pens. I need a convincing win. Much as I love MaxiPad, I hope AKost is okay to play this game.

What's with the hostality? I want to beat them just as much as the next guy, but it has nothing to do with tanking or their fans.
