I have a feeling the Discussion brothers will come out on top tonight.

Gustave 12-27-2008 11:15 AM

Rashad by decision
Noguiera by first round sub
Silva by tko second round, after getting brutalized by rampage in the first
Kongo with ko in the first
Okami with tko in the first
Hammil over Andy by decision

That's what I got.
It's going to be fantastic.

There's no way Rashad wins by decision.
Unless his training completely, and I do mean COMPLETELY changed, there's no way he can keep up with Forrest's pace for 5rounds.

Rashad's best chance IMO is to pace himself and Knock Griffin out. If it goes to a decision, it'll be extremely surprised if Forrest doesn't win.

Big Nog should win, easily..

Silva likes to do slug fests..he likes to go out there and swing like a freak..so it's hard to predict his fights. He's not what he used to be, I'll give it to Rampage.

Hold the phone. Rashad is a fantastic wrestler, he is fast and a pace dictator. Now, I understand what your point is; Forest is overwhelming opponents with pressure and a bottomless gas tank.

My gut is telling me that Rashad will have top control a lot and Forest is suspect on his back(Jardine, Shogun second round, etc). That's why I see Rashad getting his usual UD. His ground and pound is very energetic and quite damaging. Judges like that ....

I'm not saying Forest doesn't have a chance; anything can happen tonight. Forest never gets the benefit of the doubt and usually proves every one wrong. It's just a gut feeling on my part.

And yes, Rampage and Silva will be in a war. Brutal and savage is what I expect. Symphony of destruction...

I disagree. Rashad KOd Liddell.
I don't think his starting game plan will be to bring Forrest to the ground.

I predict Forrest coming in, trying to set up the pace, Rashad circling around, trying to avoid the pace and at the same time find the open spot for the KO shot. If he can't escape the pace Forrest is trying to set and is eating a couple punches hear and there, he'll shoot. But I don't think we'll see that until 2nd or 3rd round.

Personally, I think Rashad will KO Forrest. Although I want Forrest to win because I want Rampage to destroy him in a rematch.

I think the longer this fight goes on, the less chances Rashad has of winning. I also think whenever it's a Championship fight, and it goes to a decision, the judges will favor the Champ a little more than the challenger.

Rashad has to win by KO or TKO in the earlier rounds, otherwise it goes to Forrest IMO.

Hawkguy 12-27-2008 12:13 PM

Pat Barry d. Dan Evensen
Ryo Chonan d. Brad Blackburn
Matt Hamill d. Reese Andy
Antoni Hardonk d. Mike Wessel
Yushin Okami d. Dean Lister
Cheik Kongo d. Mostapha Al Turk
Wanderlei Silva d. Quinton Jackson
CB Dollaway d. Mike Massenzio
Forrest Griffin d. Rashad Evans
Frank Mir d. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira

Mir will pull off the upset.
Griffin will handle Evans pretty easily.
Silva will let Jackson tire himself and then take advantage.
Kongo is going to destroy Turk.
Hamill has an easy night.

May I ask how you see this fight developing? IMO, Mir has little weapons that Nog can't counter. Honestly, I can't see Nog losing to Mir.

Drunk World Order 12-27-2008 12:24 PM

Rashad by KO
Silva by KO
Noguera by submission!

I'm just remember when I did UFC predictions on a site a year or two ago, I was really good at predicting upsets. I'll try and remember the site, but my record was incredible.

I just see Mir picking up a victory.. I think he'll go to the ground and just manage to stay on top. Plus, he has a pretty good jaw, so he can take some punches from Nog.

Ok. That's why MMA's great. Anything can happen.

The positive to having Mir win is the ensuing re-match with Lesnar. That could be epic.

In which case, I'd also pick Mir. ;)

It goes without saying; Lesnar couldn't beat a BJJ black belt. Too soon in his career.

Agreed.

The only reason he got off to such a good start against Mir is because he came out explosive and I don't think Mir expected it. Even if Mir didn't get the submission win, I think Lesnar would of tired very quickly.

LesCanadiensSontLà 12-27-2008 01:07 PM

Forrest Griffin d. Rashad Evans by unanimous decision
Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira d. Frank Mir by Rear Naked Choke in the 2nd round
Wanderlei Silva d. Quinton Jackson by KO in the 2nd round
CB Dollaway d. Mike Massenzio by Armbar in the 1st round
Cheik Kongo d. Mustafa Al-Turk by KO in the 1st round

A hell of a card!!

It wouldn't be an upset. It would be by luck.

Mir is not better than Big Nog in any category. He's not better at the striking, ok maybe a tiny bit, but both of them have quite the crappy stand up game and both these fighters have great chins. Big Nog has hands down better jujitsu.

I really don't see how Mir can win this fight unless it's by luck.
He doesn't deserve this fight and he was lucky to beat Brock. Lesnar was fighting his first fight and got carried away.
