"Sexiest Man on Ice"

From the Posts Page Six mag.
http://www.nypost.com/pagesixmag/iss...exiest+Ice+Man Nothing really new, but worth a read. My favorite quote :
Quote:

"Winning is everything to me, so when it comes to game day, I don't like to talk much. I get angry easily. If I have a bad game, people stay away." He's been known to throw things and break sticks. He's also had his share of bruises, and once broke his jaw while playing a game in Russia in 2001.

Seems to me that being shed in that light leads for certain people to lose concentration on what matters most.

He's been the Rangers best player for most of the season. What point are you trying to make here?

people who get tied into things like that in the past not in hockey necessarily usually become larger than life figures with their egos and personalities. Think avery, arod, tom brady.

"Things like that?" The guy has been nominated for the Vezina in his first three seasons in the league. He is the number one reason why this team wins games. He's a young, classy, good-looking, rich athlete playing in the biggest city in the world. If he wants to do a couple of front page news articles, I say good for him.

You know what other people were larger than life figures with their "egos and personalities?" Michael Jordan, Lawrence Taylor and Reggie Jackson. And Tom Brady isn't really doing too shabby either with his THREE Super Bowl Rings...

Vezina nominations don't mean ****.
Lead the Rangers to a stanley cup, then you can be a smug ****** bag.

How is he being smug? Where has Lundqvist been smug?

"Vezina nominations don't mean ****?" Without those Vezina nominations this team still hasn't made the playoffs after the lockout.

People really need to stop sipping the haterade...

Nick00 01-06-2009 08:35 PM

Ok, well maybe he's not a smug ****** bag. Who knows.
But he gets worshiped around here for accomplishing absolutely nothing.
Vezina nominations don't mean anything.
If he proves something in the playoffs then maybe I'll care about who he's dating, or what restaurant he likes.

Oh, man. You must have loved when Mike Dunham was our starting goalie.

You're right. We should trade his smug ass.

Like someone else said, posing for fashion magazines is not what he should be worrying about right now.
I'll join the Lundqvist man crush club once he takes over a playoff series this spring (if they make it).

I wonder if Joel ever pretends to be Henrik.

So if they don't, you'll be blaming it on Lundqvist being in the paper once in a while? Yea I'm sure if we miss the playoffs that will be the main reason, not because we couldn't score, our defenseman played like crap, our PP sucked, or our coaching was bad.

Tom Brady gets a lot of this kind of attention, and last time I checked he's made it to 4 superbowls and had the greatest season ever by any person to ever play his position. I remember Derek Jeter getting even more of this type of attention during his first couple of years in the league, and he's won a few things himself. Who gives a **** if Lundqvist is on Page 6 once in a while.

You're not wrong to say that Henke hasn't proved everything until he's stepped up in the playoffs, but let's everyone stop pretending that this is some sort of major distraction. He did a magazine interview and photoshoot that probably took him a couple of hours out of one day, or maybe was split up over two.

*Shock!* *Horror!* He has a life outside of hockey!? If he didn't he would be on HFBoards.

Yeah the man should do nothing but eat, sleep and dream hockey. No place for a life or anything. He should be chained to the goal 24/7.

Remember when Henke couldn't stop a puck and complaining of migraine issues?

Wow. I can't believe that their are Rangers fans out there who dislike Henrik this much. Go root for the fishsticks.

And how have Arod and Tom Brady performed? I'd say they have had pretty good careers...wouldn't you?

Good for Henrik. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. This kind of stuff is good for him blowing off steam and getting hockey a little more attention in the city.
