Bertuzzi: Great signing, or Bad signing?

What is everyone's take on big Bert?

He seems to be playing well with Langkow, and Rene.

Is he that player that everyone remembers from Vancouver?

GoFlames 01-07-2009 09:29 PM

A good signing, on pace for say 25 goals maybe less. Well worth 2 million. At this rate Dustin Penner would be getting 40 goals!

DBU 01-07-2009 09:32 PM

Good signing, I've been impressed with him for the most part.

I think it was a good signing. He's not really that good defensively, but puts up points and contributes offensively. For the price tag that he comes at, I have no complaints. As far as being the player I remember from Vancouver, not so much, in the sense that he seems like less of a power forward and more of a playmaker. The guy has some great hands. Also seems like he's very well liked in the locker room, so that's great news since a lot of people predicted he'd be a cancer/distraction.

KiwiFlamesFan 01-07-2009 09:49 PM

I'm happy with him. Everytime I watch him it seems like he's comfortable out there and he always seems to make good plays in the offensive zone.

He's been suspect defensivly, but his been a big reason why they have a solid 2nd line (that quite frankily save for the Edm game is actually better than the first line) and for whats he's brought, 2 mill is a bargain. Great signing. I don't think he'll every recapture what he had in Van nor do I expect to. I was thinking that 20/50 was realistic and he is on pace for more than that.

Have really no problems with Bertuzzi. For his price tag he is contributing very well. Seems to have found some good chemistry with Langkow and has been really solid the last two weeks after struggling for quite a while. Good pickup by Sutter.

Good signing and well worth the $2,000,000

getoverit 01-08-2009 09:05 AM

for the price tag, well worth it and a welcome acquisition, bit of a roller coaster, but last 2 weeks is any sign of what it is to come, he has more upswing in the last half this year, I think he will take it another level. He is competing now, starting to get that edge :yo: I was watching him against the Sharks closely and the guy is lying down blocking shots when it was 5-2 flames. This is going to get fun :handclap:

Bertuzzi has really played great for the flames, i really see him being resigned before cammalleri is (unfortunately) Plus when he really wants to be he i a dominate force on the puck. He has excellent hands and if we could sign him for say 2.5 mil per year i think he would be great to lock down long term.

Congo 01-08-2009 11:14 AM

I like having him on the team, for sure. He's been very good this year, especially for his price tag. But, by no means do I ever want to see him signed long term. He's too old for that course of action. And, if comes down between him or Cammalleri, Cammalleri is the one that should be coming back.

ComixZone 01-08-2009 11:36 AM

Great signing. I want him and cammalleri both re-signed.

Ticonderoga 01-08-2009 12:26 PM

For sure got the a good bang for the buck on this one.

If we can re-sign I say go for it.

Grannys 01-08-2009 03:24 PM

Excellent move by Sutter :handclap:

Lunatik* 01-08-2009 05:19 PM

I'll judge this move come playoff time... that's where he always seemed to disappoint in the past

Godfather 01-09-2009 08:02 AM

Did he even play last night?

CrosbyCrosby* 01-09-2009 08:04 AM

He was injured so Backlund got to play.

debil 01-10-2009 09:40 AM

-10, worst in the team. Bad move.

for this year, yeah he is

Miko 01-10-2009 01:18 PM

I honestly thought it was a bad move.I thought to myself"how can i cheer for this guy".

Well as time wore on he grew on me ,now i'm definitely glad to have him on the team.I wouldn't mind at all if sutter decided to re-sign him to another year.At a reasonable rate of course.

Beginning of the season, he was showing flashes of his old self. Physical, scoring goals, great passing, etc. but went back to being soft after he took that horribly embellished boarding penalty against the Canucks.

Using the most overrated stat in hockey to declare Bertuzzi a bad move. Weak.

+/- is surely not most overrated statistic and reflects both defensive and ofensive abilities.
