Clarke Threatens Hossa & Alfredsson

Link

Now, I'm no Sens or Flyers fan, but Clarke says some ridiculous stuff here, including:

"Then they're jumping on guys who don't fight: Mattias Timander, Patrick Sharp. At least Sharp's a North American. He knows how to fight. But their guys kept jumping on (expletive) Europeans.

...and...

"That gutless puke Martin doing that (expletive). But when you pull that (expletive) off, it comes back to get you. They have to come in here (April 2) one more time. They won't be able to hide Alfredsson and Hossa and all the guys then."

As a Leafs fan, it's nice to see some hate growing between any other teams in the East besides Toronto's rivalry with everybody...but the European crack? I'm pretty sure the guy fighting Timander was Zdeno Chara, and I'm also pretty sure he's European. A gigantic European, yes, but a European.

Dr Love 03-07-2004 02:22 PM

Clarke is rambling in anger, because some of the things he says are inconsistent. Not just the Chara thing, but using the Sharp fight as an example as a player being jumped on and saying that he didn't approve of it, and then later saying that he didn't mind it that much because Sharp has thrown down before. I think I see what he is getting at, that he didn't like that one of his players was jumped but considering who got jumped it's not so bad for him. I think it's just a matter of bad wording, which happens when you are rambling when angry, which is what I think Clarke was doing. I'm not making excuses, I don't really like some of the things he said, particularly the shot at Europeans. I did like the "gutless puke" line though.

easton122 03-07-2004 02:29 PM

What will our lines look like on April 2nd?

Todd Fedoruk- Michal Handzus- Branko Radivojevic
Boyd Kane- Patrick Sharp- Craig Berube

:dunno: :D

Sorry, I thought he was recovering from a shattered jaw, concussion, and lost weight, and didn't realize he would be able to hop in the ring to go a couple of rounds so soon.

Nobody said he would fight. ;)

DJ Spinoza 03-07-2004 03:28 PM

Sharp can handle himself just fine, and guys won't drop their gloves if they can't.

Dr. Love is right, Clarke is rambling.

What he is mad about is how Chris Neil jumped Somik , beat him down, and continued to punch him when he was down. Neil is a somewhat tough guy, and that was Bull S@%&T what he pulled. I hope Fedoruk busts that little punks face. As for super tough guy Chara, I would put my 3 year old niece vs Timmander. Brash has got to teach that punk a lesson also.

no, what has to happen is, you send Fedoruk out to just grab Havlet and pummel him like Neil did to Somik.

I think that you hurt them by going after their non-fighters such as Havlet, Hossa, Alfredson, etc, not by going after Neil.

MojoJojo 03-07-2004 05:36 PM

That is not how you win a cup. You may get away winning a series agianst the Sens if you do that, but you know they will just go after Gagne, Johnsson, Pitkanen, etc. I'm not willing to get into a war and sacrafice our best players just to teach Ottawa a lesson. Turn Niels face into Hamburger for what he did, but beat Hossa and Alfreddson on the ice. We have the talent.

Anyone want to make one about the Senaturds?

IdiotsPickedMyName* 03-07-2004 07:36 PM

I don't understand from what i gather smolik is not a fighter. I also understand that he is what like a fourth line player???? Neil punching him on the ground was wrong and i believe the flyers have to go after him (BTW im a sens fan so neil would wreck whoever you send after him except brashear. stick brash up against chara that would be a fight!!) but why would you call for the blood of a player like alfie or hossa ]who are in the top 20 players in the league to be beaten when it was neil only attacking a fourth liner.

and ya chara is a slovak and a damn big mean one at that

Even with all those injuries he could still KO Havlat, Alfredsson or Hossa in a matter of seconds.

officeglen 03-07-2004 08:45 PM

Sure, but those players would just turtle, and now whoever took them who likely get suspended - so do you want JR out for the start of the playoffs?

I'm not saying not to have any measure of revenge on April 2. However speaking from Ottawa, the real revenge will be denying the Sens the Cup this year (such as by winning the Cup yourself, or knocking them out of the playoffs), not having a few more Friday night fights.
