Tiebreakers - From NHL.com
1. The fewer number of games played (i.e., superior points percentage).
2. The greater number of games won.
3. The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing.
4. The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season.

Anyone missing the game because of the storm, tonight?

I'm sure the crowd will be sparse.

I was reading the Panthers GDT before last game, and a few people said that this is a game that Florida "should win".

It really surprised me until I thought about it. Dallas has sort of become one of those teams to the rest of the league. Hopefully they can do enough to drop that moniker this year and make the playoffs.

That sucks to think of the team in those terms.

theheadmata 01-27-2009 11:13 AM

I was actually going to go to the game since the tickets are 50% off, but couldn't find anyone to go with me and I don't feel like flying solo.

Edit: I was curious if that was the perception by other fans around the league, BigG44, but I didn't want to actually confirm it by reading other teams' GDT. :(

piqued 01-27-2009 11:20 AM

I usually read the other team's GDT at some point and it definitely is. Once you drop to the bottom of the standings everyone assumes the win. Part of that is I don't think fans around the league ever thought the Stars or their players were that good, even last year.

You mean go go fail powerplay right?

**Fingers crossed** that Richards is still on the point. Last time that only lasted a game or 2. If Modano and Robidas are back on the point, I'll be rooting for the PP to end ASAP so Dallas has a chance to score.

Well if the powerplay is ever going to score Atlanta's PK would be one of the most willing to let it happen. However, our powerplay inadequacies tend to bring out the best in pentalty killers.

But I still want them to score on the PP!! (kind of like I want to win the lottery)

The Stars will basically be underdogs for the rest of the year, even when they secure a playoff spot in the coming months. I'm actually impressed, for a team to go from dead last in the NHL at one point, to where they are now, to where they'll likely end up. I want other teams to take our Stars lightly; that's what makes victory sweetest. :D

It'll be interesting to see how many people show up for the game. Not only has the team had a problem selling tix for this game (numerous advertisements and promotions), but the weather isn't cooperating either with local newscasts sounding out the 'Artic Blast'* warnings.

can't be much worse than the attendance at the panthers. I still can't get over how empty it was

Hopefully it's not as empty as the 2005 game against Florida. Man I've never seen a Stars game that empty.

Was. Believe it was January of 05. Don't think there was that much ice on the ground at all but of course it was WINTER BLAST 05

"Arctic Blast"?

What kind of cold weather do you folks get down in Texas that would classify as Arctic? :p:

mid 30s and lower

piqued 01-27-2009 02:20 PM

It's funny how little you hear about Enstrom these days on HF compared to last year. He's not even having a sophomore slump. His point totals are down, but he's still played very solid defense while absorbing large minutes and the Thrashers' PP is in the top half of the league. I guess part of the reason for the points is the additions of Hainsey and Schneider taking PP minutes.

Caseman 01-27-2009 02:22 PM

If they lose, I will castrate myself.
