2. The greater number of games won.
3. The greater number of points earned in games between the tied clubs. If two clubs are tied, and have not played an equal number of home games against each other, points earned in the first game played in the city that had the extra game shall not be included. If more than two clubs are tied, the higher percentage of available points earned in games among those clubs, and not including any "odd" games, shall be used to determine the standing.
4. The greater differential between goals for and against for the entire regular season.

NWAvs 02-05-2009 05:45 AM

Good luck Stars! hoping to end your win streak:handclap:

jdmcrae 02-05-2009 09:35 AM

If they come out hard early and get the lead, they should be able to crush Colorado's spirit... The Avs have been a totally different team when they fall behind from the games I've seen this year. Tough road then home back to back, gotta start it off with a win

Oh, and GO STARS GO!!!!

Stars99Lobo37 02-05-2009 10:39 AM

A Nashville win in regulation and a Dallas win would move the Stars into 5th place.

What a turnaround so far.

Keep it up Big D. GO STARS GO!

theheadmata 02-05-2009 10:53 AM

Hmm, I'd be okay with watching a Dallas/Chicago first round this post season. :)

Play hard boys and bring home a win!

Previews for tonight...

Dallas Morning News - "Turco tax: Stars' top goalie faces tough stretch"
Dallas Morning News - "Dallas Stars at Colorado Avalanche Preview"
Denver Post - "Avs' Svatos regaining confidence"
Rocky Mountain News - "Granato wants Avalanche to be physical vs. Stars"
Rocky Mountain News - "Avalanche report: Turco has Stars on roll"

Budaj starting for the Avs.
Turco starting for the Stars.

A win tonight would tie the Stars' 5th longest win streak in franchise history (well 4 other times it's been 7). The past 4 seasons, we've seen a lot of these type of win streaks.
7 Games - 1/29 to 2/14/08
6 Games - 11/16 to 11/26/07
6 Games - 1/23 to 2/1/06
6 Games - 1/4 to 1/14/06

The only one that didn't have at least one shoot out win was last season on really that New York trip (11/16 to 11/26)..but they did have one overtime win.

Colorado is finishing a 3 week, 8 game homestand tonight. There's a way to cut down on travel.

At least you got a reaction. Someone on the Pittsburgh board failed harder when he said that the Pens should trade for "Duthin Brown". I couldn't stop laughing, but not one person mentioned it in 2 or 3 pages.

Stars99Lobo37 02-05-2009 01:32 PM

Dustin is my favorite player but even I had to laugh that. LOL

Alistar 02-05-2009 01:33 PM

alright - It's going to take a 3 period effort to beat Colorado tonight. All you have to do is look back to last Monday to see what happens when a very similar team to the Stars (calgary) doesn't come to play against the Avalanche.

GO STARS GO!

You know, it's pretty sad. But I'm just now realizing that we're the only team to defeat them in extra time this season.

Captain Awesome 02-05-2009 02:25 PM

This is probably the sort of team we should beat and 6 in a row is quite lofty. I just wonder if they're starting Stephan tonight and Turco tomorrow or not starting Stephan at all?

No way.

You start the number 1 goalie against Colorado and Nashville. Those are teams that could catch you, and you don't want to give them points.

You start Stephan against the Rangers. All losses hurt, but not as bad to the Eastern Conference.

If Turco plays all 3, there is no way in my mind that Dallas can continue the streak. 3 games in 3.5 days is too much strain on a goalie.

EDIT: That sounds like I believe Stephan will lose which is not the case. Stephan has played very well in the 3 games they gave him. In Tippett's mind though, Stephan is a major risk it seems. The bigger risk IMO is throwing Turco out their for the next 3 games. He can't play every game this season, and Tippett is going to have to get past that.

Chad_ 02-05-2009 03:40 PM

The logical move would be to start Stephan tomorrow night for the reason BigG44 wrote, but also because it allows a longer rest, albeit only one day, for Turco. He hasn't exactly received much in the way of rest and he'll need it if the Stars manage to make it to the playoffs.

piqued 02-05-2009 03:59 PM

Watch Turco play all 3.

Do not tempt Tippet. I will not be happy if I have to watch Turco tomorrow night. It's just bad coaching if he plays all three games. You will be as much at fault as he is.

Chad_ 02-05-2009 04:43 PM

We all know Turco will play all three games, mainly because Turco will state he's not fatigued or that he's ready for each game. No one should expect anything else from Turco, and anything less than his desire to play would make him a poor professional athlete.

I didn't know piqued was one of Mark Lamb, Andy Moog or Stu Barnes. If he was, I guess you could fault him :D

catters078 02-05-2009 05:03 PM

Must win for the stars..

As much as i would like to think we will win both tonight and tomorrow..back to backs are always tough...

If we can get two pts tonight it helps us breath easier tomorrow..

And guys I wouldnt even speculate, It will be Turco tonight and Turco tomorrow..

We have to stop Wolski and Svatos, they are getting warm for the avs...stop them, we win..

Stars to roll, 4-2...
