JUST ****ING WIN!

This may be the worst team, at this point in time, that the Caps have played in a month or more.

Devil Dancer 02-17-2009 11:24 PM

Kick 'em when they're down! Kill kill kill!

CapsHockey8 02-17-2009 11:25 PM

Jugular!

Langway 02-17-2009 11:36 PM

The Rangers were in a serious funk, too, although they had home ice to help spark them.

No comparison when it comes to controversy, though, with the whole Kovalev situation. That has to be a big distraction for everyone at a time when their focus hasn't been great as it is. You've got to think there are going to be yet more somewhat serious changes to their roster over the next two weeks.

Get to them and get to them early.

Kovalev for Nylander!

:scared:

I can see it now...The Russian 5 - 2009 Style! :scared:

C-A-P-S 02-18-2009 03:39 AM

Honestly the lineup wouldn't look half-bad:

Ovechkin - Backstrom - Kozlov
Semin - Fedorov - Kovalev
Flash - Laich - Fehr
Bradley - Steckel - Brashear

That second line would be sick....

Portable Mink 02-18-2009 06:27 AM

i was going to say 6-2 caps, with latendresse getting 2 goals but it appears hes out.

6-0

I would argue the Rangers fall into that Category, and well . . .

Just ****ing win.

Panopticon 02-18-2009 07:40 AM

Damn. This game would interest me a lot, but can't really watch it. Why are the most interesting games always during the week... (7:30PM over there means 2:30AM here)

I don't really care how big they win as long as they win, but voted for "by two or more"

Honestly, Kovalev is not the kind of influence the Capitals need in their dressing room.

this is exactly the reason we will prolly play like ass and the game will be way too close. Caps fail when it come to playing against "weaker" teams.

strungout 02-18-2009 08:22 AM

Actually...from everything I've ever read or heard, Kovalev is a decent teammate...just goes through the motions from time to time with his game.

If Gainey would deal Kovalev for Nylander (and a throw in pick perhaps)...well...I don't think you think twice about it. The room will take care of it's self....but I don't see adding him causing any major problems with the existing unit.

artilector 02-18-2009 08:25 AM

Sure is going to be an interesting game to watch. Nothing easy for the Caps though, because Montreal is going to come in primed to work hard.

Regarding Kovalev, he would not be looked upon to lead on this team, and I think he'd be fine as a 2nd line piece. Doesn't really matter, even to contemplate this, Mtl would have to take Nylander.. which they'd be crazy to do. But GMGM should try, anyway..

Maybe that's why Nylander was scratched last game because Montreal and Washington were in talks for a trade, and since they haven't finalized it, Kovalev is being benched -- only way we'll know is if Nylander is benched tonight too. :naughty:

cleaver 02-18-2009 08:45 AM

11-1 Caps. Ship be sinking.

HSHS 02-18-2009 09:02 AM

Hoping for a OT win!

Meh. Fedorov could easily keep him in check, I think, as Kovy's not really a bit time personality. He just has effort issues and he clearly wouldn't be the top dog here so the situation might not be as tense as it is now in Montreal.

Not that anything would happen, mind you, it just wouldn't be the worst if it could.

can you imagine a power play with he and ovechkin on opposite half-walls waiting for one timers? umbrella it with green at the top, laich in front and backstrom floating around down low. the pk would have no clue who to defend.

stanleycaps98 02-18-2009 09:14 AM

5-2 Caps.

Montreal comes out smoking, but 2 early goals for the Caps put out the fire. EN at the end starts Greens new goal scoring streak.

Just effing win.

Oh, and go Canes. Three SE teams would be great!

stanleycaps98 02-18-2009 09:15 AM

double post, please move on.

Biscuit Bullet 02-18-2009 09:17 AM

Kovalev using his free time wisely:

Tarik wrote an article on Fehr, so expect him to go cold. Hopefully Flash can pick up the goal scoring load for the FFF line.
