Kari Lehtonen, 2 2nd round picks (ours and Habs), and Havelid.

As a package.

Thrashers need more offense.

IslesDude 02-22-2009 03:08 PM

Why in the hell would Atlanta want to trade draft picks? (the other second belongs to ANA FYI)

John Cena* 02-22-2009 03:10 PM

cause no one has interest in the 100,000,000 AHLers we have on our team.

The Thrashers score more than enough goals to win games, they need to improve their team defense and their PK.

A better start would be to find someone willing to take Chris Thorburn, Eric Perrin, Eric Boulton, and Jim Slater off our hands.....I would also try to trade Exelby, and re-sign Havelid.

camarodude39 02-22-2009 03:16 PM

Your not going to get the return your hoping for if you package all those pieces together. Maybe someone like Spezza could come back but I doubt it, as that still leave Ottawa with lots of holes.

Your best bet is to split this package up for some smaller deals. I would like the Blues to go after Lehtonen though.

Haute Couturier 02-22-2009 03:21 PM

Lupul, Andreas Nodl, Vaananen (salary dump) for Lehtonen

mercury 02-22-2009 03:22 PM

Lupul, Jones, and Biron for Lethonen and Havelid.

Biron is UFA, you can just let him walk. Lupul is locked up for 4 years, and Kovalchuk-White-Lupul would be pretty sweet. Jones makes the same as Havelid and is signed through next year. He would help your power play unit. How much do you expect Lehtonen would expect as an RFA?

We'd have to send one of our goalies, wouldn't we?

Lunatik* 02-22-2009 03:23 PM

ummm the Flames acquired the Habs 2nd rounder in this coming draft as part of the Tanguay trade (and was traded to LA in the Cammalleri deal)... could the Habs second possibly be a 2010 pick?

We could always trade one of them in a separate deal. Biron likely wouldn't waive his NTC to go to Atlanta anyway.

lehts will probably want 3.75-4 million but it has been reported that atlanta is trying to resign him and seeing as he is an RFA it would make no sense for it to be a sign and trade so he is most likely off of the tradeblock at the moment

no

atlanta has lehtonen(RFA) hedbergh(signed through next year) and pavelec(not entirely sure but i think he is signed through 2011) and doesn't have to get a goalie back in any goalie deal

that so i don't expect any of our goalies to move anytime soon

But they could take Biron for two months if Lehtonen is out the door. Pavelec can stay down, and they could roll with Biron and Hedberg for this season, and then it would only Hedberg and Pavelec would be signed for 2009-10.

yes, but the thrashers don't NEED a goalie back. they can take one but they don't have to

Of course. But it would certainly make a potential deal easier to work out.

Kari Lehtonen for Brett Clark and Marek Svatos?

Because that was a 1st that was traded for Tanguay, not a 2nd.

danishh 02-22-2009 05:14 PM

Lupul, Biron, Jones
for
Lehtonen, Havelid

keep the picks.

It was a 1st in '08 + 2nd in '09 for Tanguay and a 5th

Actually it was Tanguay and a 2008 5th (i think) to Montreal for their 1st in '08 and 2nd in '09... then the Flames traded their 1st in '08 and Montreal's 2nd in '09 to LA for Cammalleri and a 2008 2nd (which happened to be Calgary's from teh Conroy trade)

but if you don't believe me believe TSN..

yes, calgary has mtls 2nd rd pick this year.

Atlanta has the ducks 2nd round pick, via montreal (huet trade), via washington (sutherby trade).

at the moment, thats picks 32 and 43 if the standings dont change at all. Better for atlanta than the habs pick (#51).

No offence, but I am not quite sure Jones would even play if Thrashers PP, which is one of the few things in the team that actually works pretty well. They've got Kovy and Hainsey playing pretty much the entire two minutes, even Enström gets very little ice time. And they've got Bogosian too. If Flyers want to dump salary, Oystrich for Jones might work. Oystrich has played OK, he is kinda of like Kukkonen but better skater and has some upside. I expect Atlanta to keep him, but they might be interested in swap for someone with bit more experience.

Acekicker123 02-22-2009 08:59 PM

To Atlanta:
Vesa Toskala
Nik Antropov (on pace for 28 goals, 33 assists in 61 games played)
Jason Blake (on pace for 31 goals, 35 assists in 76 games played)
Ian White ( on pace for 10 goals, 15 assists in 67 games played)

To Toronto:
Kari Lehtonen
ATL 2nd round pick
ANA 2nd round pick

Yea, I'm sure what they want is Antropov plus a few bad contracts in exchange for a young goalie and some good draft picks. That makes all the sense in the world for a rebuilding team :shakehead
