Ryan McDonagh needs our help! (Hobey Baker voting)

Well, the vote is on to determine the 10 finalists to the Hobey Baker award this year!

Ryan McDonagh is a nominee. Us Habs fans seems to be good at stuffing ballots, what about this one?

I voted.

So what is that all about? :sarcasm:

no Conboy ;)

Only 362 votes for Mcdonagh on 265493 total votes. This is not going well :(

One thing is sure, if people would have seen the Friday night game he played, they would have been voted for him. Sure he was there when the tying goal was scored, not really his fault but how great he was using his speed, controlling the puck and playing a real mean physical game, it's the first game that I've seen him play like that this year. Montreal keeps saying that he plays better now, I see what he means. Seems to me that McDo has picking up his play, either by doing what he wants or that his coaches decided to unleash him.

I voted. Can we vote as many times as we want?

CPrice 02-22-2009 08:05 PM

I voted as well.

Glad to hear that Whitesnake....especially since I know you were down on him earlier in the season. I've heard that Habs Player Development have been a bit disappointed in how he has been used at Wisconsin (defensive role). I saw him play several games at WJC and he played that same defensive role but played it very well. It will be interesting to see whether he's a Badger or a Bulldog next season.

My turn:handclap:

Let's get the Habs bandwaggon on the case.

Who is Mark Magnowski and why does he have the most votes?

I won't vote for him. I like him, but from the sound of it, he don't have the best and most consistent season. The Hobey Baker is for the best college player of the year, and if he don't fits in the 10 finalists, there are no good reason to vote for him except that he's in the Habs organization.

The fan vote counts for 1% of the total vote, and every year it gets hacked by some dope supporting a player from a crappy team nobody has ever heard of. McDonagh isn't winning the Hobey. He wouldn't even win the Hobey if it were for best defensemen on his own team (Jamey McBain would, and he'll likely be a finalist for the award that Colin Wilson will win).

Ballot box stuffing seems to influence karma...

I appreciate the idea of supporting our own at all costs but I think we should focus our ballot-box stuffing efforts on more trivial subjects. Things like all-stars games, nicest jersey, arena etc...

The Hobey Baker award is for MOP, our guy doesn't belong in the conversation.

montreal 02-23-2009 08:06 AM

Your wasting your time, he has no shot at the Hobey, his teammate would get it over him no doubt. McDonagh doesn't even stand a chance of being in the top 10, he's playing much better lately and looked good again this weekend (saw most of friday nights game some of saturdays)

FYI, in watching some of Fischer's games this weekend, his coach talked about him before Saturday's game, said he had a tough game on Friday but that the team really missed him when he was injured. Said he's made good progress this season but needs to get bigger, said he should end up around 220 and right now he's only 200.

smon 02-23-2009 09:45 AM

Honestly, did you guys not learn anything from stuffing the ASG ballots? Price has played terribly since then. Further, if you don't really have any idea what the Hobey Baker is all about, why bother voting? Fanboys, don't give the rest of us a bad name. :shakehead
