for game 1 of the playoffs
lats should definitely be back by then unless i missed something.
even without any trades (which i feel will come) we would be able to ice a great lineup (IMO) tanguay-koivu-akost patches-plekanec-kovalev latendresse-lapierre-higgins :yo: stewart-chipchura-kostopolous --- laraque-begin (d'agostini goes back to hamilton, sergei stays there) markov-schneids hamr-komo gorges-dandenault --- boullion-brisebois we should all cross our fingers and toes in the hopes we have a healthy line-up come mid-April. and no, i dont fear our not making the playoffs :) |
Wait for March 4th ;)

my point was, that given gainey's track record, i think we should all appreciate the fact that we could ice a very good lineup even sans trades.
again, that is only my opinion, but it is certainly better than what we've had in past years heading into the playoffs |

My question was did the OP think that Gainey was done and that will be our final roster. Quote:

I think we could really use a center and without losing big pieces. A guy like STEVEN REINPRECHT out of Phoenix may be a possible target. I think, we could fit him in our CAP, without trading any warm bodies, though Phoenix may look at a guy like Stewart, but I'm sure they'd rather have draft picks.
Tanguay - Koivu - D'Agostini Pacioretty - Plekanec - A. Kostitsyn Higgins - Reinprecht - Kovalev Latendresse - Lapierre - Kostopoulos Begin, Laraque Markov - Scheinder Hamrlik - Komisarek Gorges - Brisebois/Bouillon/Dandenault Price Halak Call-up O'Byrne, Stewart, and Chipchura should Hamilton be eliminated from the playoffs. |
The guy to get even though he is hurt is Doug Weight. A centre who plays the point on PP unit #2. UFA at year end and I would think would not cost too much in assets
Tanguay-Koivu-Dago MaxPac-Pleks-Kovalev Latendresse-Lapierre-Kosto Higgins-Weight-AKost Extras: Begin, Laraque, Chips, Stewart (minors) Markov-Schneider Hamrlik-Komi Gorges-Dandenault Extras: Bouillion, Briseby Price Halak |
Without any extra moves?
Tanguay-Koivu-D'Agostini Pacioretty-Plekanec-Kovalev Higgins-Chipchura-Andrei Latendresse-Lapierre-Kostopolous Markov-Schneider Hamrlik-Komisarek Bouillion-Gorges Price Halak I have been very happy with the reconnection of Plekanec/Kovalev, but still think that Andrei could do more damage on his own line without them. Give him some nice complementary players (Higgins/Chipchura) and I think he could help give us a real 3rd line threat. He would still get good PP time of course. Also eager to see the Lats-Laps-Kosto line again as an awesome 4th line once Lats is healthy. |
Get Pronger.
Markov Schneider Pronger Komisarek Hamrlik Gorges WOW. |

DO IT!! ok down to reality, never gonna happen. That is where the upgrade will come if it does. were good everywhere else. We will be getting guys coming off injury(tangs,Lats, lang if we last long enough) to help up front. Halak is holding the fort, price is chompin at the bit and will be ready if called upon after a run by his veteran partner in the nets;). I have faith in Price. The 6th defence position of Brisebois/Dandeneault/O'byrne/Weber and injured Bouillon, needs the upgrade by getting a Pronger and moving Hamrlik and Gorges down the depth chart or by going out and getting a guy like Kuba. Koivu- Higgins,Tangs Pleks- Kovalev,AK46 Lappy- Lats,Max Pac Chip's- Kostopoulos,Stewart Spares: D'agostini, Begin, Dandeneault, Laraque(if he isn't traded) Move Lang in the lineup when he is available. The defence above with Pronger or another. |
let's focus on playing good hockey, being consistent and actually making the playoffs right now. the 9th place team is only 4 points back.
