Value of Jay Bouwmeester

According to TSN, the askig price for Bouwmeester is a top 4 dman, and a veteran foward who will be a fan favourite and can help Florida and they're playoff push.

Even if a deal seems less likely with Florida in playoff position, the Panthers reportedly will consider offers for D Jay Bouwmeester, but would require more than just prospects and picks to make such a deal. The Buffalo News says that the asking price is a top-four defenceman and a veteran forward that can be sold to the Florida fan base (and help the Panthers make the playoffs this season).

Would something around Ohlund or Salo and a conditional 1st be enough for the Nucks to land Jaybow?

Captain Saku 02-27-2009 04:32 PM

Komisarek and Kovalev

well going by the tsn blurb alone, what veteran forward are you adding? Kyle Wellwood? :sarcasm:

ECL 02-27-2009 04:33 PM

Scott Gomez, Dan Girardi, 2009 2nd and a 2009 conditional 1st (if he re-signs) for JayBo.

UnderratedBrooks44 02-27-2009 04:33 PM

let's try some ideas that actually adhere to the criteria mentiond in the OP's post.

Maybe the Nucks can land Roerts or Recchi from TB for a 3rd round pick and then flop him over to Florida?:D

you've mentioned this a few times in different threads and I think it'd work well for both teams.

Florida definitely likes big-ish D and Girardi fits that discription. Would give them a good overall defense, and Gomez is a good guy to keep in front (or in back of?) Weiss.

I think you're awnsering your own question. Per the article - FLA is looking for:
1) Vet top 6 forward.
2) Top for forward.

You're offering back a good UFA d-man and a conditional pick if J-Bo resigns. That does absolutetely nothing for the Panthers, and really is almost insulting considering what other teams would likely be willing to offer.

I honestly think that VAN isn't a good match, unless they can fool FLA into thinking that Bernier has value, or Demitra's willing to move.

I think it makes a lot of sense for both teams, definitely. Gomez is signed for a while so it is at least a steady veteran presence who can't just bolt after a year. Girardi will only be a RFA in a few years, so he can be re-signed as well.

GET IT DONE, SATHER.

i doubt they would want to be handcuffed by gomez' contract for years to come. especially knowing that he needs a winger that he clicks with or he is a 55-60pt player making 7.5 mil

Didn't realize either Ohlund or Salo converted to forward. When did this happen?
