semi-OT: literal meaning of "rondelle"

I was just thinking of this while watching the stars game for no particular reason... You know how the word sometimes used for puck, "le disque," is literally "the disk" but you just know it means puck?

What about "rondelle" -- does that have some other 'primary' meaning in French and it's just what we use for puck? Or is it only the word for puck and nothing else? Like would you call anything else a rondelle in French?

Thanks... I'm in the U.S. and took French for a few years but I don't know this one...

...something round...or going around...? or around

We use it for the puck and for onion rings... Don't think there is another one.

A 'rondelle' is also a washer - which is thus similar to Russian where the Russian word for 'puck' is also the same as that for washer...

Babel fish says: Rondelle = disc.

Yeah it's used to describe small round things. Onion rings being the best example.
