With the playoffs quickly approaching, I decided to keep track of what's going on around the Eastern Conference. I'll update the table every night (hopefully).

Busy day at work?

Looks good.

JXC 03-13-2009 02:32 PM

Cool.

Jeez that schedule is nasty.

chimrichalds18 03-13-2009 02:44 PM

whats really scary is that all of those are tough, tough games. i'd say the two islanders ones are gimmes, but that certainly isn't true 1) in this nhl and 2) with the way the islanders have played lately

JDinklage Morgoone 03-13-2009 02:51 PM

Uh oh. Definitely some good games to watch coming up but WOW does that look tough.

Miss Mess 03-13-2009 02:54 PM

:amazed: @ our schedule. I am sorta nervous we're going to choke lol

Is THIS the year we break the Detroit streak?
Easy Tirvia - Who was in goal the last time the Flyers beat the wings in Detroit?

dr.rosenrosen 03-13-2009 03:54 PM

Cue up Rush's "Trees." I won't answer more than that but do you know what was most memorable about that game?

we beat the red wings? haha

We need to play a more blanced game, we have finess players and rough players and combos like Richie. We need to start dumping and chasing, thats what the "new" NHL was supposed to help. We will draw more penalities and get more chances. There is a reason why our 4th line always draws penalties. And if they had more talent they get some goals too.

The thing that im MOST scared of in the final countdown is a major injury to Timo. If thats going to happen, then it should happen now so we can at least get a lotto pick :sarcasm:

I know but won't answer either. Have to admit not getting the Rush reference though. Just wondering how many posters here were even born when this happened?

The goalie's last name could evoke an image of "Trees."

Who was acquired from those very same Redwings, I think that summer maybe? Didn't realize he was in net that night. I do remember the game though.

Yup, he won his NHL debut against the Flyers a couple years prior, too.

I will hold off on the answer to the question I asked about the "memorable" part of the game but if that happened today, our board would be going crazee.

CanadianFlyer88 03-13-2009 06:07 PM

I just looked up the box score to the game in question versus the Wings.

What a crazy final minute.
Yzerman had all three goals for Detroit, as well.

Since I had to look it up, I don't want to spoil the answer to who was between the pipes. For the record, Hextall makes me think of trees as well. :sarcasm:

I think we hijacked your thread. :)

The "memorable" part has to do with the final goal and what followed.

I'm really interested to know what happened seeing as I wasnt born yet. I do know the goalie too.

Come to think of it, so does one of the defensemen we would have had on the ice that night.

Heh. It's all Flyers related hockey discussion, so I don't have a problem with it. :)

I have no recollection of the incident itself, but the box score infers something quite nasty.

Getting warm, very warm.

MountainHawk 03-13-2009 06:41 PM

Is the schedule really that bad? Wings, Bruins and Devils are great. Pens are playing well. Rangers, Sabres, Panthers, Islanders, Senators, and Maple Leafs are all mediocre to terrible teams. I'd be shocked if we don't get 17 out of 24 points in the 12 games against those 6. Give me 4 out of the other 8, that's 103 points and we slide into the 4th seed with room to spare IMO.

CNote 03-13-2009 07:09 PM

Am I the only one who wouldn't mind finishing 8th?
