GDT:Flyers vs Penguins

Looks like I'll be doing the honors today-yay!

The Philadelphia Flyers continue their pursuit of the top spot in the Eastern Conference as they visit the suddenly streaking Pittsburgh Penguins.
Philadelphia pulled within one point of Tampa Bay for the lead in the East with a 2-1 win over New Jersey on Saturday. It was the Flyers' second win over the defending Stanley Cup champion Devils this week, helping Philadelphia open a healthy eight-point lead in the Atlantic Division.

``What I'm looking at is the highest possible seed in the conference,'' Hitchcock said. ``That's vital.''

The Flyers, 4-1-1 in their last six games, are hoping to avoid being the next victim of the suddenly streaking Penguins.

Pittsburgh owns the NHL's worst record, but has won four straight games, including a 3-2 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday night.

It's the team's longest winning streak in more than two years, dating to a six-game run from Jan. 17-26, 2002. The Penguins are 6-2-1 following an 18-game winless streak (0-17-0-1).

``When you hear a lot of the same things, whether its pregame shows or in the media about what you have to do to beat the Penguins, to just show up, believe me we're all professionals,'' Olczyk said.

``We deserve a little bit more. Forget me, my players deserve a lot more respect than that.''

ok,maybe it's not a very good preview,but oh well.
Flyers 4(Gagné,Handzus,Timander,Recchi)
Pens 1(whoever wants to score)

GKJ 03-14-2004 11:13 AM

Flyers 5 (Gagne 2, Handzus, Johnsson, Radivojevic)
Penguins 3 (Fata, Jackman, Malone)

Lets see if they have a letdown after a big win like they did after they beat Ottawa and proceeded to lose to Washington.
The Flyers know that the Pens have played us pretty tough this year. Pens have been playing some good hockey over the last 3 weeks or so. Look for more of the same, Pens put up a strong effort but in the end it isnt enough

Flyers 6 (Gagne,Recchi,Handzus,Zhamnov,TA,Markov)
Pens 3(Malone,Jackman,Morozov)

FlyHigh 03-14-2004 11:51 AM

Flyers 4 (Gagne, Recchi, Johnsson, Burke)
Pens 3 (Fata, Jackman, Morozov (first three names I can remember on that roster))

I'll say the same. Winning is good and all, but the pens need to maintain the pole position going into the lottery draft.

FlyersGuy69 03-14-2004 12:13 PM

this IMO, is a must win. they have to beat this team and collect 2 more points. we should kill this team but with that being said it will probably be a tough game.

Flyers - 4
Pens - 1

RoDu 03-14-2004 12:21 PM

Pens have been playing good, scoring alot, I see a shootout, hopefully we come out on top

BrimFullofAsham45 03-14-2004 12:33 PM

My prediction is that Burke lets in 2 goals, Radivojevic scores and the Flyers win

MASK 03-14-2004 12:36 PM

Flyers 3 (Malakhov,Amonte 2)
Pens 0

Rex88 03-14-2004 12:59 PM

Flyers 5 Pens 2

Recchi 2, Gagne, Zhamnov, Sharpe. :)

ObeySteve 03-14-2004 01:08 PM

Flyers 5
Pens 3

To believe that Burke will have a shutout is a joke.

capn89* 03-14-2004 01:30 PM

Flyers 6 - Lindros (3) Zubrus (1) Samuelsson (1) Jones (1)
Pens 4 - Lemiuex (2) Jagr (1) Kovalev (1)

Does Burke shoot that goal in himself, or does a Pen accidentally put it in their own net?

Toonces 03-14-2004 02:14 PM

Alex LeClair?

Zhamnov continues to impress.

Edit: Forget the LeClair comparison, I didn't realise who was on his back. Zhamnov still rules though.

Big McLargehuge 03-14-2004 02:17 PM

That was a beautiful goal by Zhamnov.

Very nice.

capn89* 03-14-2004 02:36 PM

Who was the ****ing **** sucking defensemen who hung on to the puck hung on to the puck hung on to the puck then wrapped it around the boards to a guy who was covered, causing a turnover which led to the goal. That pisses me off more than anything because all the ******** needed to do was dump it into the neutral zone, rather than think they have to make some amazing ****ing play. ****!

Winston Wolf 03-14-2004 02:45 PM

Johnsson on the PP! 2-1!

I hope that ***** who was harrassing Handzus on that play gets reemed by his coach :joker: the extra shot he game Zeus cost his team the goal as he could have not taken the shot and played the puck. :joker: :joker: Makes me happy.

Big McLargehuge 03-14-2004 02:53 PM

Orpik's stick was getting held by Handzus, he couldn't have done anything

Flyers are up 3-2 when the pens pull the goalie, burke then scores. BUT, the Pens score on Burke when its 4-2 making the final score of 4-3.

It's called a check, you don't need a stick to do that. :p Nevertheless, great goal by Johnsson :D

It seems the example that the league tried to make of Bertuzzi isn't working with these Pens, huh?

Sticks to the face and punches to the head, real smart :shakehead

That league ruling only applies to NHL teams, not AHL teams. :p

Just kidding Pen's fans, that was a cheap shot. :)
