Recently Horton was shopped for Staal on here and FLA fans were saying no.

So... Hmm...

I think at this stage, florida would be looking for players/prospects, not picks. If the blues are willing to give up some real assets, i could see a trade being worked out.

Ps: are there still rumors that Horton wants out of Florida?)

Ha not a chance the Panthers do this. Horton is signed til 12-13 at a very good 4M tag. Kariya @6M for one more year isn't worth that at all. Heck if the pick were a 1st it still wouldn't get done. Likely have to throw in multiple picks or a 2nd tier prospect(Cole, McRae, Sonne).

No way would Florida touch this , unless that draft pick was 1st in 09, and even then, they'd have no interest in Kariya's contract.

Come on guys. No way does Kariya waive his NMC to go to Florida. So this isn't even possible.

He wouldn't even be asked, because Florida doesn't go near this deal.

Change Kariya to Berglund and you might have something going.

I wouldn't go that far. It would take Horton+ to get Berglund, let alone the Blues adding a pick.

That being said, there is zero chance Florida does this. How would it solve their problems? Their goal is to have young, cheap, talented NHLers, not injury plagued, older, expensive players. I would love it if they actually agreed to this, but I don't see any motivation for Florida to do it.

The first deal was bad. But this is horrid. Blues fans wouldn't touch Berglund for Horton and draft picks.

If a deal we're to be put together. Something like this would be in the making...

I would put money on Kariya willing to waive his NMC to go to Florida. He would be more willing to waive it to go to a non hockey town, then he would to go to a place like Toronto, New York, etc... He is a quiet guy who likes places where there isn't a whole lot of media involvement. Hence why he signed with STL in the first place (well, that and 6 million a year)

I wouldn't do that from a Blues standpoint not that value isn't there just organizational need for Berglund. Large skilled two way centers aren't that easy to come by.

I'd rather keep Cole and Palushaj.... no thanks to Craig Anderson why not just get him in the offseason?

Karlya is old and is always hurt and it would take more than what you are offering to get Horton.Back to the drawing board.

While I understand the value isn't here to get it done for Horton, saying Kariya is always hurt is simply farce. Before this season, he hadn't missed a game since the lockout.

He simply isn't half the player he was. Hurt or not, he doesn't hold close to the value Horton does.
