I've incurred an upper body injury, so I won't be able to complete the GDT. I'm day-to-day.

No need to worry about it... If the Sharks dont win by 3 (even if it is their AHL team), it should be a disgrace to them.

If I were San Jose, Id play a "just avoid an injury" type of game.

Based on watching the Sharks-Hawks game last night my keys to the game are:
1) Must continue to play solid defense - starting from the net out, we must keep SJ to the outside of the ice, keep the front of the net clean, and successfully clear the puck whenever possible to avoid long shifts with SJ cycling deep in our end.

2) Don't give up unnecessary chances - stay out of the penalty box, wingers can't blow the zone on breakouts, avoid long passes through the NZ, keep it simple.

3) Gotta get pucks deep on SJ D and establish forecheck - we have had a lot of success with our forecheck and stand a good chance at giving SJ fits with it tonight if we continually get pucks behind them and hustle to bang bodies in order to create turnovers. This could be a real source of offense for us tonight, counter-attacking off of turnovers.

4) Involve the D in the attack(s) - we will not be able to sustain ourselves simply creating chances off the rush. We will need to be able to generate consistent opportunities off the cycle. We do not have the size or speed necessary to cycle to the middle of the ice. We do however have a bunch of grinders that can cycle the puck to the outside quite successfully. Tonight we need to really focus on looking to kick the puck out to the D at the points to get shots through on net and create opportunities. D needs to focus on shooting to create opportunities rather than trying to blast one-timers high glove.

5) Gritty, not pretty - Nabakov will stop it if he sees it. We will not score too many of the highlight reel type goals tonight, but that does not mean that we cannot score. Whenever we get pucks out to the point or whenever we get shots on goal, we must get bodies to the net front to provide traffic and jump all over rebounds. We cannot allow Nabakov to walk out of here with an easy victory tonight. If he wants those two points, make him earn it.

I'd like to subject myself to the glory that is our current line up so if anyone knows of a steam I'd appreciate a PM, thanks.

Back to the subject at hand, holy cow only down one after the first!

I say don't let up, keep rushing the puck in off the edges and keep the momentum going.

golfmade 03-26-2009 09:02 PM

Hot damn, thought that was going to be a goal for sure.

worstfaceoffmanever 03-26-2009 09:20 PM

Pihlström should not touch the puck. At all. Ever.
