Hard Time Warming Up Legs

As my legs have gotten in better and better shape over the last few years, hockey mostly, I noticed it takes me more and more time to warm up my legs. Even skating 15-20 minutes of warm ups doesn't do it, I still need a couple shifts to get going. Jogging a while helps but not sure beyond that. Any suggestions?

Don't know if it can help you but one weird thing I noticed recently. If I stay still while on the bench, my legs feel very soft on the next shift. But if I shake my legs slighty (just to keep them in movement) I feel like my legs are full of energy and response way better. Am I weird or is it a normal thing?

I've been a goaltender most of my "career" so I don't know about these things

Anyway you could try that.

Why didn't I think of that! Obvious but potentially brilliant.

I think I've sorta noticed the same thing after 5-10 minutes.

Stretching before. We ride the bus to away games, and a solid 10 minute stretch works wonders. That, coupled with a good skate in the warm up is important. I also try to limit the time I sit in the room before going on, I'm usually not dressed until the coaches come in 20 minutes before.

Stretching really didn't help me that much, unless I did really intense stretching for a while. The squats help a lot though.

Ok, PM me with your email address and I will hook you up with some videos to watch on my MySpace account. After you do these drills, you will not have any problems...trust me!
