Emelin: bad news.

Just read that his injuries (due to a fight) are very severe. The bone beneath his eye is fractured, which might cause his eye to "pop out".. in clear, he might lose his eye.

Here's the babel fish translation:

Quote:

Defender “[Ak] of panther” Aleksey [Emelin] under no circumstances will not be able to play in this drawing of Gagarin's goblet , reports sports.ru. Version with the face shield even is not examined, since the injury Of [emelina] proved to be still more serious than it was assumed. It already communicated that the facial bone was broken. But it was explained that there is a danger of the retraction of eye. Therefore in the course of operation to hockey player by plate they strengthened the cracked eye socket

Watsatheo 03-27-2009 11:10 PM

Damn, that's terrible. This could end his career in hockey. :(

Captain Saku 03-27-2009 11:13 PM

Habsfan18 03-27-2009 11:16 PM

Jack Bourdain 03-27-2009 11:19 PM

Damn, hockey man... sometimes the injuries baffle me.

Hope he makes a full recovery.

le_sean 03-27-2009 11:21 PM

I call bs

Belso 03-27-2009 11:28 PM

Well I hope he gets a full recovery and I hope he wears the Habs uniform at one point in his career..

Chomsky 03-27-2009 11:30 PM

So one day it's perfectly normal, then the other day it's career threatening? Which ******* russian paper should we trust?

oh and **** you Svitov!

The Gal Pals 03-27-2009 11:33 PM

Yet another reason he should have listened to Timmins and signed with the Habs instead of staying over there.

Next Best Thing* 03-27-2009 11:38 PM

That's ****ing despicable.. I can't believe I'm reading this?

He chose his own path.

Habs 03-27-2009 11:59 PM

Lets keep an eye on this story and see how it develops.

Noooooooope.

Can happen anywhere to anyone... that fights. Your comment is ridiculous.

deandebean 03-28-2009 12:02 AM

I remember hearing a fan in a minor hockey rink saying to her son: "mords-y un oeil". Svitov probably took the comment personally.

True but the refs could have done a better job.. though the dammage was probably done before they could intervene.

I remember Alex Kovalev in an interview saying he would never play in Russia again because of the pathetic refereeing.

This was not a normal fight. The other player was suspended because he kept pounding Emelin (who had his gloves on. This would have never happened in the NHL.

Here's the video:

Oh man, that would suck if that does come to pass :(

NWT Habs Fan 03-28-2009 01:39 AM

So they send a guy out in a white coat and carry a seriously injured player off in a gunny sack...wow. Not sure that league has learnt its lesson.

Who would make a music video out of this? :shakehead

Seems like he was headed for the morgue too.. what an amateurish barbaric league.

maci4life 03-28-2009 02:24 AM

unfortunately i don't see any part of that fight where an NHL ref would have jumped in there any quicker. No league could have stopped that injury.

not true. he was duped by his agent.

Zine 03-28-2009 03:01 AM

Simple case of a player losing absolute control. There aren't too many referees who could've prevented that situation.

Blame this inury on cheap *** Svitov....not the refs.

Haha, in Russia they think same about NHL.)))

Emelins injury is most likely overblown. Regardless, Emelin is a dirty player that was asking for it(the beating, not the injury).
