Was Kidd number 2?

Team_Spirit 03-16-2004 05:30 PM

putrid Beflour had an horrible start and right now he ain't going nowhere .

Carbonneau 03-16-2004 05:32 PM

I haven't even heard of the guy that did the segment

BLONG7 03-16-2004 05:44 PM

Brodeur,Theo,Luongo,turco,Raycroft....OK I'll stop...

Tuggy 03-16-2004 06:04 PM

I saw that to and its not his opinion. Its based on some sort of formula so...that's why TSN uses it because that's the only way Belfour would ever be considered the top goalie in the league.

The rest of the list

2.Brodeur
3.Turco
4.Theo
5.Raycroft

oh boy thats brutal.

felixd 03-16-2004 06:16 PM

You know guys, this isn't as biased as you make it sound. Of course remember, this is pending upon Belfour being 100% healthy

Luongo is definitely better than Belfour, BUT

Brodeur-Stevens = Not as good as Belfour
Theodore is really a toss up, same with Turco.

You can make arguments for any of these goalies. The only knock on Rayzor is that he's a bruin. :p Seriously, though, as much as I like Rayzor, he has zero playoff experience, and this COULD be a detriment. Then again, he could emerge as a great money player...he's a toss up too.

Carbonneau 03-16-2004 07:52 PM

TSN's Formulas are horrible.

ie. The Power Rankings

#44_delivers 03-16-2004 08:16 PM

tsn's sunk to a new low :shakehead
they need to take those toronto nuts out of there mouth when doing there putrid rankings.

Boardish 03-16-2004 08:20 PM

What will tsn say when Toronto is gonna be out after the first round?

Would be damn funny!

Carbonneau 03-16-2004 08:22 PM

I have no problem with Pro-Canadian commentary, but TSN, and CBC for that matter, take Pro-Toronto to another level

I still can't figure it out, though... 12th in GAA, 3rd in SO, 18th in Save Perc., and 6th in wins. How the hell does that make the number one goalie? I'm not a Devils fan at all but seriously, Let's take the same stats for Brodeur: First in wins, first in shutouts, 14th in save perc., and 10th in GAA. How about number of cups? Brodeur again. Playoff wins, oh, that's brodeur again. Biggest coke habit? Well, that's Belfour. Worst alcoholism.... Belfour again. What crackheads.

Sonik 03-16-2004 09:36 PM

Strange that Carlos Delgado didn't make their list. :dunno:

(ok ok, I stole the joke, but it's still funny!)

Istvan 03-16-2004 10:33 PM

Yeah, and i've got a formula that shows Worrell as the best skater in the league.

leafaholix* 03-16-2004 10:35 PM

Darren Eliot is the broadcaster for the Atlanta Thrashers.

It was his list... not TSN's.

Yeah I still can't figure out the formula either :dunno: I guess the main ingredient is some T S N ;)

The TSN guys are morons. Every time they get heat about their ridiculous rankings, they refer fans to some "formula."

If any of you are reading this: newsflash, Einsteins, if your so-called formulas are placing obviously inferior players ahead of better ones in your lists every week, they aren't working. Have the stones to take a stance and make the picks yourself. Just be able to back them up with a well-reasoned argument.

Yeah, I just smoked some of that and I almost thought Belfour was good. Kids, say no to drugs. It happened to me, it could happen to you (T.P. Boys represent).

I think its pretty obvious their 'formula' is based around wins/games played or points/ games played. Belfour has 28 wins in 51 games so he has about .55 winning rate. Most other better goaltenders are around .500. Personally I think, if that indeed is their system, its completely wrong. Wins (and GAA) are just as much product of team effort than goaltenders play. In my opinion save% is the only reliable stat to gauge goaltenders - and even that can be misleading at times.

I agree. What kind of system is that?! While we're at it, I think Pasi Nurminen is the best goalie in the league because of his 31 PIM!

If Pasi was playing for Leafs, and Misters Summanen & Kurri werent scouting him for
Finnish world hockey champ team, he most definately would be.=)

Apparently that system of theirs doesnt include such no-name backups as Miikka Kiprusoff - 20 wins in 31 games with scary numbers on an average team.

zednik 20 fan 03-17-2004 12:12 PM

O i missed the sportcentre... is this stuff on their website.. i want to have a good laugh!
