Just looking to unload some cap space and not get too much in return, basically, the only thing the Rangers can do at this point to salvage anything in the near future.

I don't have the best reputation with proposals on this board but I think they're all pretty fair.

I have a bad feeling I'm gonna take some flaming from every angle here (Rangers fans and other teams fans as well). Oh well, flame on.

TheHMan 04-06-2009 11:37 PM

In what universe can you get LA's 1st round pick for negotiation rights??? It's a top 10 pick!

Hejda > Rozsival

Sorry, but the Rangers need to be the one handing over the 2nd or more.

Pretty much are garbage past the 1st proposal

Sorry, my friend, but Hejda himself is worth more than Roszival with his contract...

I did not realize how badly Sather screwed the Rangers with some of these contracts--Redden, Gomez, Roszival, Drury--that's a lot of over-paid players...Realistically, each of these guys is overpaid by about 2M...

silverfish 04-06-2009 11:46 PM

Is Hejda really more on his own than Rozsival?

I'm sorry but I don't see that at all.

Mattias 04-06-2009 11:54 PM

Kings say no.

Lundqvist=Vezina 04-06-2009 11:57 PM

As a Ranger fan I say no to completely blowing the team up.

Hejda is an ELITE defensive d-man (good comparison would probably be Chris Phillips, except that Hejda is making just over half the salary of Phillips). I think Roszival is a decent defenseman, but at 5M...:shakehead

y2kcanucks 04-07-2009 12:04 AM

Probably have to waive Naslund too. This coming from a Canuck fan who has seen his progressive regression. At his pace he'll be a 35 point player next season.

I Am Chariot 04-07-2009 12:07 AM

1. Redden gets a pass his first year.....Hes been really good sometimes and really bad others. Sather will have compassion

2. Unless Sather packages Gomez with some JUICEY prospects he's not going anywhere. Certainly not to the cheapskates in Buffalo. (Although he'd be sick with Vanek eh)

Naslund to the Wild for pre-july 1st negotiating with Gabby? Who's Gabbys agent? Is he old school?

Matthew 04-07-2009 12:17 AM

Hejda is paired with Commodore and they play against the other team's top lines. He logs heavy PK minutes, too.

He was +20 last season on an awful CBJ team and is +23 this season. Rick Nash and Jakub Voracek are tied for 2nd on the team with +11. He's also signed for 2 million per.

He's way more valuable to the CBJ than Rosival would be. Rosival's contract is so anti-Scott Howson, it isn't even funny.

Howson isn't looking to add salary, while shedding a top pair d-man when they need both the player and the cap room to sign Rick Nash to an extension.

I can understand the reasoning behind this post but I just can't see any of these transactions taking place. If the waiving of Redden is for the purpose of buying out his contract, then I would deeply reconsider that move as I don't think the Rags could really afford to have that much "dead cap-space" on the bokks (around 2m for the next 8-10 years?) If it's for the purpose of trying to lose him on re-entry waivers, that might be a bit more likely.

Either way, good luck to the Rags in fixing thier problems. :)

Ragamuffin Gunner 04-07-2009 12:44 AM

The Rags wont be 'fixed' as long as they have a GM who likes overpaying mediocre talent.

Morozov 04-07-2009 12:48 AM

Lmao at the Kings pick for negotiating with Zherdev, it's been commented on already but I felt it was worthy of more ridicule.

I thought the Rangers were trying to get rid of overrated and overpaid players?

I wouldn't label Gaborik "overrated" he is as good as people give him credit for when he is actually playing.

That's great because I don't see you guys having that option anyway.

Crimson Devil* 04-07-2009 03:48 AM

New Jersey offers Dainius Zubrus and a first round pick for Scott Gomez.

wej20 04-07-2009 05:02 AM

all of those are heavily in favour of the Rangers.

boredmale 04-07-2009 05:14 AM

Easy way to Fix the Rangers is make a rule that they can't sign any UFAs that aren't already on the team for over 4M

Seriously that is incredibly bad. You might get LA's 2nd rounder for that, but I have a feeling Kings fans will tell you that's an overpayment.

As far as fixing the Rangers. You'll have to keep Drury, Gomez and Redden and hope that they start to play well next year and raise their value. At that point you might get some interest in them. Of course if they play well Rangers fans won't want to deal them, but that's the paradox. You can't deal a guy who isn't playing up to his salary and if he is playing up to his salary you don't want to deal him.

RangerBoy 04-07-2009 06:33 AM

Some of my fellow Ranger fans are a little confused.

Negotiating rights?Zherdev is not a 37 year UFA. He is a group II who has zero interest in playing outside the NHL.
