Nik Antropov

What kind of money is Antropov looking for in the offseason?

grabo84 04-10-2009 09:47 PM

Somewhere between four and five million I'd wager. Probably at the lower end of the spectrum with the way the cap's going.

no way maybe 3-3.5mil..

sharpie 04-10-2009 10:23 PM

3.5 I'd say. Some team will pay him that amount. May fetch a little more if the Rangers have solid playoff run and he performs well.

Ih8theislanders 04-10-2009 10:23 PM

I'd gladly take Antro at 3.5

Savvy 04-10-2009 10:43 PM

- Big body
- Plays the front of the net exceptionally well
- Good set of hands
- Close to 30 goals season
- 29 years old

The market this off-season is going to be very interesting in the sense that GMs are all going to be very cautious of any contract that extends into the dead cap era where it comes down.

I still see a team willing to give him a short term four million a season deal for two years though.

I woiuld say 3.25 is about what he will get. His injury history will keep the price down.

he hasn't been considerable injured for 2 years now. He'll get ryan malone money from someone.

Twist and Shout 04-10-2009 10:50 PM

About 4 million and I'd gladly give it to him.

BlueAzN 04-10-2009 11:07 PM

He comes to the Leafs at a discount of... 9 mil 3 years. GO NiK! :handclap: Burke make this happen please.

Claxton 04-10-2009 11:15 PM

Basically a 30-30 player, under the age of 30, with size AND hes a UFA.

Someone is going to toss 5-6 million at him without batting an eyelash.

leaflover 04-11-2009 12:01 AM

Nik should do alright and sign for 3.5 - 4 and he's worth it.
I'm looking forward to seeing what Nik can do in the playoffs this season. Its really the first look we'll get of him now that he's maintained good health and evolved his game to the level of taking on a significant role other than his time as a support player alongside Nieuwendyk years ago. Thats had a tremendous impact on Antropov's confidence which is evident in his play.

Not even close. Ryder consistently hit 30 goals (Antropov hasn't yet) and he only got 4 mil. There's no way Antropov is going to get 1-2 mil MORE than him, even with his size etc.

Ryder is a one trick pony; Big Nik brings several things to the table.

My Sweet Shadow 04-11-2009 01:05 AM

He'll definitely be looking for somewhere around 4M... one of the main reasons why Burke decided to move him. I'd love to have him back, but there are so many young guys that could take his roster spot, or bigger fish to put that money towards.

Exactly. Antro's strong defensive play is often pushed off to the side.

Nizdizzle 04-11-2009 02:04 AM

I would jump for joy for Ni at $4 or cheaper

phlocky 04-11-2009 03:08 AM

LOL, all this for the same player that Burke said wouldn't even return a 2nd just a month beore he was traded??? You've got to be kidding me. 3.5 would be pushing it for him and anything more is WAY overpayment for an underachieving non-producer.

Patrick96 04-11-2009 03:25 AM

3.5m

You take what Burke says too literally. He says stuff like that to light a fire under a player, and it worked. He can't be much of an underachieving non-producer if you think he's worth 3.5 - that's a fairly hefty salary.

Thats what Im thinking.

I can see a 4 year-14million dollar deal for Nik.

Christ 04-11-2009 09:50 AM

There was a rumour going around in Toronto that Burke had tried to sign him before the deadline. Antropov's agent wanted something along the lines of 4 million a season and a three year deal. Burke was unwilling to pay this and thus he got traded. I would say that it is safe to say that Antropov would be looking for a similar, if not better, contract over the summer. I don't think that he is worth it.

Gagner West 04-11-2009 10:27 AM

4 million, maybe a little more.

If he wanted that he'd still be a leaf.

He wants around 5 is my guess.

If his contract will be a problem for the rangers they should really consider not resigning Zherdev and using that money for Antropov.....he is a much better player and exactly what the rangers have been lacking for years, a big guy who goes to the net.

Zherdev has been streaky but for the most part he has not done much and often times it seems the coach (both renney and torts) are not happy with his overall play.
