I still don't understand why Laraque was put on the first line. I guess I just don't understand Montreal vs Boston hockey, but it seems to be more complex than any other match up in sports.

MountainGoat 04-20-2009 04:20 AM

I hope Boston wins just because I hate the habs fans more :)

and I really hope Price is in net

Jee 04-20-2009 07:17 AM

lol @ your banner Manu! Funny as usual! haha

gonna be there tonight, just hope they come out strong and win this one.

I wished Markov was there :(

Psycho Papa Joe 04-20-2009 07:17 AM

Just a small note, Bouillon should be added to the list of scratches.

Psycho Papa Joe 04-20-2009 07:23 AM

Obviously a must win for the Habs. The Habs desperately need Markov, their best player and MVP, in the lineup. It's like watching two completely different teams when he isn't in there. Without him, I can't see this series going more than 5. If he does return, the Habs could still be heard from. I think Lucic's impact is overblown and not having him in the lineup won't hurt the Bruin's chances much. Chara is the guy that stirs the drink.

Also the Laraque on the 1st line experiment should end. Koivu/Kovalev/Tanguay were flying at the end of the season and it made absolutely no sense to break up that line and the chemistry they had going. It's no coincidence that Kovalev has scored his two goals when Laraque was on the bench. Laraque has a role, but that role should not be on the 1st line under most circumstances.

I agree PPJ. With Markov, the Habs are a completely different team. I'm not sure if there's a team in the league that seems to depend on one guy so much.

BeBen* 04-20-2009 07:33 AM

Im pretty sure Gainey will die with Price...

Halak will never get a shot at playoffs hockey in Montreal imo

Absolutely an issue that Gainey needs to address. There is obviously a big problem with the overall makeup of this team, when winning and losing is so dependent upon one player being in the lineup.

Kaoz 04-20-2009 07:40 AM

Nice job on the GDT folks... I'd be lying if I said I didn't laugh at the Pierre and Claude pic.

So is Halak a for sure tonight? I've said it before but I'd rather the B's face Price any day of the week over Halak.

Most of us are probably going with common sense... but then again Bob Gainey and common sense don't mingle (sometimes).

Coach Parker 04-20-2009 07:45 AM

LOL, and Habs fans wonder why so many people root against them when the playoffs come along. Only they would be making fun of a team who has been soundly beating them in every aspect this year and series.

Heck, the Bruins are even winning in the suspension category 1-0!:sarcasm:

Do or die tonight for the Habs.

Ivyy13 04-20-2009 07:48 AM

Win this for Lucic!

Be very afraid of BYRON BITZ!

MontrealHabsFan 04-20-2009 08:03 AM

Price back tonight? Hope not!

Hoping he won't be, I beleive he lost it... what a terrible season for the youngster. Halak looked much stronger in the 3rd period in game 2. The players don't seem to want to play in front of Carey. Every game he lets 1 or 2 really weak goals in... sad but true.

And now Price wants to go at it with a fan...? :shakehead

Yeah, the lack of depth and quality of the defence needs to be looked at for sure. I guess there's no chance Markov gets parachuted in for tonight's game? I haven't heard anything on him.

Quakmybush 04-20-2009 08:12 AM

This game should be just as heated as the first 2, I forsee Thornton grabbing Lapierre and knocking the **** outta him. (Hopefully)

Bruins win in a really close one (maybe OT)

That could happen, but don't forget our first line player may have a little to say about that. :help:

Nah..If this goes to OT, the refs will pull a game 2 last year.

I'd be more scared of Bitz than Laraque.

Looking forward to a great game, the Montreal fans should be as loud as ever, helping their team get back in this.

Keep the GDT clean please, respect the site rules and enjoy the game.

RSBPC 04-20-2009 08:39 AM

Nice thread and presentation, the only thing is that as far as the Bruins lines go Wheeler will be playing with Krejci and Ryder and Bitz will be on the 4th line with Thornton and Yelle.

It's going to be important for the B's to start out strong prove they can maintain their physical play on the road and without Lucic. Getting on the board first would be nice too, the Bell Centre will be rocking and it would be nice to take the crowd out of it early.
