Where in the world is David Wilkie???
 

I did a little search and found the following:

David is now a coach!!!! Yeah a coach. For the Augusta Lynx in the ECHL.
His team is playing for 0.435 and will be out of playoffs.
Also, take a look at the 1994-1995 season, when he score an impressive 53pts
with Fredericton!

Don't remember much about Wilkie... I know he had an amazing shot and was once clocked at nearly 100 miles an hour.

Aslo, when the Habs got Shayne Corson, Wilkie offered him to take his #27 back... pretty classy.

I remember how excited I was when he scored 27 goals in 29 games with the Regina Pats in '93-94. He had a lethal wrist shot. He was supposed to be reasonably mobile but just couldn't put it all together. He was too much of a liability in his own end. He has good size too. The big three blueline prospects back then were Wilkie, Rory Fitzpatrick, and the third guy was named Rivet.

UPDATE:

David Wilkie is now retired. He is head coach of a minor league hockey team... somewhere... I forgot the town. I would assume it is in the AHL or ECHL or something.

(edit: sorry i typed this up right after reading the thread subject. I didn't read the first post until now...)

I watched him a fair amount of times when he played for the Pats and thought he was great. He could skate and shoot very well and was heads and above most players on the ice almost every time I saw him. I was certain he was a sure-fire NHL'er back then and was excited when he got drafted by the Habs. He was one of those guys who had a lot of poise out there and could control the flow of a game.

But for some reason he just couldn't bring it in the NHL. I don't know if he had personal problems or lacked confidence or what, but he just didn't pan out.

Ron Hainsey is a lot like that guy. Hope Ron will play in NHL next year!
