Curve question

Out of the Nike Bauer blade patterns, which one is most like Iginla/ Sher-wood PP6087? I consider myself a shooter(wrist/snap shots) so I like a good curve but not too much. im deciding between PM9 Malkin/St. Louis, P88 Lindros, and the P92 Naslund. Thanks.

Okay I won't be able to help you much other than I bought a PM9 blade by bauer after being used to Iginla which the ones I used were RBK pro-stock (the made in Canada ones) IG-17 pattern which is the Iginla pattern.

I thought the PM9 may be similar but it isn't. The curve is a mid-heel curve and the blade points out at an angle sharper like you have the stick aimed more in front of you. I know i suck at explaining that but the degree angle from the shaft at the heel is more forward.

The Heatley, Recchi, patterns are just about the same as the Iginla with the Lindros (P88) running a very close second to being the same.

I've never tried a Naslund so I have no somment on that.

In my opinion if you could straighten the Lindros blade and the st. louis blade a little bit that would be like the Iginla and Recchi pattern but they are very close as is.

Basically though i did not like the PM9 after liking the Iginla which is what i think you were getting at with your post.

of course i am not you so you may love the PM9. The PM9 and the Lindros are the two most popular blade patterns in sales according to two stores I go to.

I bought 3 Heatley Easton Synergy blades and they are just about the same as the Iginlas I used.

Maybe the P88.

Naslund and Lindros curves are almost identical to the Iginla, however the Iginla has a shorter blade, and the Naslund has an open face. The Naslund is pretty much the Sakic and the Lindros the Iginla.

Gotcha ... thanks. Oh the Heatley blades I bought have a short blade like the Iginla you described it seems. I like them and am happy I found them.

I like my blade like a wife, I like the face to stay closed.

Heatley is basically the Iginla, but with a funky toe and a lower lie. Iginla is 5.5 and Heatley is a 5.

The equivalent bauer (Not nike anymore, just bauer) curve is the p88 Lindros. Mid curve closed. The curve is a little more deep though.

The P9 is the Forsberg (Zetterburg now) and the P92 is the Sakic equivalent.

Yeah the LIEs are marked on the blades I bought. I use a 5 or a 5.5 so that isn't an issue with me. I've even used a 6 for years when I bought wood sticks. They were almost all 6 lies back in the day.

These days however I prefer a 5.

i went to the store to check out the blades today. I like the Naslund but i think i need a 5/5.5 lie. It seemed like the heel was the only part of the blade that was touching the floor.

the naslund is a crazy curve.
Every shot I take with it the puck goes straight up.

I found it is really nice up close.

What stick were you looking at? Plus, what lie was it at?

hubby1746 04-28-2009 05:51 PM

i was looking at the Nike Bauer XVI/XXV cuz hockeygiant is having some deals on them. The Naslund and Lindros curves have a lie 6. I liked both curves, but I like the toe curve of the Naslund.

the naslund and lindros are both mids. the only difference is the lindros is neutral and the naslund open

the lie and blade rocker are also slightly different but with the limited amount of choices, P92 and P88 are the best ways to go. The P88 is closer to the iginla and the P92 is closer to the 6087.

Bauer has been changing the patterns up a bit, seems like every new stick line they come out with has slightly different pattern variations.

Definitely go with the XXV.
Very nice stick, and with the prices cut in half, it makes it even sweeter.
I have a friend who plays collegiate hockey and he buys those in bundles.
