Ryan Clowe offer sheet

the canadiens should take a chance and give a offert sheet to ryan clowe he is exacly what we need: a big foward, hit, can score he would be perfect for us something around 5 years/22,5 milions ( 4,5 $ per year)

7th Player 04-28-2009 02:16 PM

ok... but who's gonna feed him the puck?

I'd rather not..I don't want to see another Dustin Penner in Montreal. he's never scored more then 28 goals at any level and that was in the "Q"..Not worth 4.5 million even as a UFA if you ask me, let alone giving up a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick.

$3,515,645 to $4,687,527 1st, 2nd, and 3rd round compensation picks...

Do you still want that?

Riverboat Gambler 04-28-2009 02:19 PM

Maybe we could make a deal with the Sharks instead.

I agree with the acquisition I'm just opposed to making an RFA offer. We'd definitely get an RFA offer back.

Maybe work a deal around our own RFA.

SJ appears to be a team that will want to make some changes, but who knows often teams come back hungry after a season like that... GM Doug Wilson has some thinking to do.

So a 1st, 2nd and 3rd round pick for Clowe? I like him, but I wouldn't give that much for his services...

Anyways, would we be able to make that move without a 2nd round pick?

Maybe San Jose would be a good fit for Higgins and his full-of-BS comments?

Benzaza 04-28-2009 02:30 PM

ryan clowe is hard working player but you dont these players to big contracts when you like at his career. These are the kind of player you draft and bring up through the organisation

its a good choice to have..

Yesss.... Good deal !

danyhabsfan 04-28-2009 03:03 PM

RFA that could seek interest:

Kessel
Krejci
Versteeg
Booth
Dubinsky
Zherdev
Clowe
Bernier

Tortue 04-28-2009 03:05 PM

He's the kind of player we need. Give us 12 Ryane Clowes and we have the cup on Ste-Catherine.

Dustin Penner type of player.. fits well with the Sharks but isnt worth the risk to lose some precious picks, especially considering we already have several quality wingers for years to come (MaxPac, A.Kost, Lats, Dags, Higgins, S.Kost,"Perezhogin"..), if you really wanna add a winger, you better add an elite talent like Marian Gaborik, Marian Hossa, Simon Gagné, something we actually dont have in the system (A.Kost could become one but didnt prove it yet), Clowe is nothing special, MaxPac will become as good very quickly.. We need to improve the center line first, add another top 4 on D..

I was just going to post "Dustin Penner" but NewHabsEra stole my thunder.

So here is a picture of jessica alba a dog on a bicycle to redeem myself:

4.5 millions for Clowe? LOL

TheCH* 04-28-2009 04:01 PM

Like to have him but compensation for offer sheets are ridiculous.

DaHabMan 04-28-2009 04:06 PM

im not a big fan of offer sheets, itsn kinda of a crapshoot and doesnt help our future, id rather keep the draft picks

id offer sheet to ryan clowe

at that price im happy for him and id be happy to see another team paying it

Hawkguy 04-28-2009 04:24 PM

I'd try to snag Clowe and a defenseman from San Jose in some sort of trade. Maybe San Jose decides to go with talent and we can get Clowe and Ehrhoff for the Kostitsyns or something (not that I'd do the trade, just tossing a potential proposal out there).

DaHabMan 04-28-2009 04:25 PM

id try for vlasic, looks like he had a bad playoff drive and could be had, who knows.

I doubt it, he's 22, the Sharks should give him time.

What did he say?

Kafka 04-28-2009 04:34 PM

I don't like that offer sheet idea. It would cost too much for what we need. Plus I would sign Kessel way before Clowe. Why? Because while Kessel can make is teamates look good, Clowe needs good linemates to produce. We have/had enough of those players who are looking for the right player to play with.

Blind Gardien 04-28-2009 05:02 PM

I'd like to have Clowe on the team, but not as an RFA-offer sheet, not for that salary, not for that compensation price (assuming we could somehow get our pick back to make it work). We need a player like him, but we shouldn't overrate him either. He wasn't too noticeable in the playoffs. I wonder what he'd do in Montreal with less talent around him. There are other, free-er, options on the UFA market. And Pacioretty will be coming at some point.

Dare to say : Penner v2.0?
